G1 feels like a big one in this series. If Montreal doesn't play well that might be it. They've had a helluva run but I do think they need the kind of performance tonight where they can feel like they belong. Getting stomped in this one would be tough to recover from. That's not a prediction, just a sometimes the bubble bursts quickly for a young team, observation.

...this is important; even if they get swept, as long as they are competitive in the Series, it's a big step for Montreal's kids...make it interesting... :thumbu:

Game one will be interesting to see if Caps can handle the Habs speed and if the Habs can handle the Caps physical play and experience. Good luck to both

What I've gathered about the Capitals is that they don't really need to control the play in order to succeed. Assuming that's true, perhaps they'll just gladly let the Habs skate around in circles and then get opportune goals on a counterattack.

Youngest playoffs team in 45 years 🫡

Habs have youthful enthusiasm and speed which is a positive…….but they lack experience massively when times get tough and we saw that a bit when they didn’t lock up a playoff spot when they easily could of and they just closed their tent which showed lack of experience (which all young teams go through not picking on them), then they closed the deal in the next game. I fully expect Habs to come out flying, but we will see how they handle to physical play and some adversity which will happen. It’s an interesting difference in teams, the old vet lion vs the new young baby lion looking to take the next step.

From what i've heard is that they play more for chances instead of shots.....The metrics chart does kind of back that up too.......

Hey Bud i went to my Sister's yesterday and my Brother In Law made me a coffee using the Muskoka Roastery beans......Not sure if that company distributes to the Maritimes or not but it was great.......

Jesus, people seem to forget that this is the team with the best record in the East vs a team that squeeked in on their last day.

Washington is a +55 while the habs are a -20.

This series might closer than it looks on paper but the habs are serious underdogs.

And this time they don't have Carey Price to steal a series or three.
Exactly. One can hope but i would bet on the Habs winning this series.

I think the Caps are in trouble. Habs in 5 or 6. Caps will struggle to stay out of the box and Laine will do some damage on the power play.

Demidov and Hutson will be up and down over the series but will each have a big game or two. Suzuki and Caufield always seem to play well against the Caps.

Whoever wins will bow out quickly to a seasoned Carolina team firing on all cylinders in the 2nd round

Montreal has a better record since the break. Capitals seemed to peak early. If I was a betting man, which I am, and if I was to put down money on an upset, which I have, I would pick this one.

I assume you also picked the Blues to upset the Jets? You know.. since the blues have had a better record since the break than the jets? You must be a terrible at making picks.

I have the feeling this is going to look nothing like playoff hockey. The Habs are going to push and forget about defense, Washington's goalies will let them down, they will push, Habs defense/goalie lets them down.

Anyone shocked if it is a 7-6 game tonight?
I haven't been shocked in a long time. Probably because I've learned to expect anything. The great thing about the playoffs is how utterly, completely, wildly, stunningly wrong all our predictions end up being.

Can't wait to see which series goes totally off script - hopefully it's this one!
