The canes did forslund wrong. I don't blame him for holding a grudge; I'm still mad about it and it only barely affected me. It does seem weird that he keeps getting put on national broadcasts of canes games. Maybe its all coincidence but especially when he was getting paired with Pierre Mcguire it was like the network wanted there to be drama around the whole deal
Respectfully, we were doing him a massive favor allowing him to keep the kind of contract he has the last few years. He wanted to be paid top dollar for his profession while having the ability to freely take work at a competitor at the competitors discretion. I don't blame the Canes one bit for pulling the plug on such an arrangement, especially during a time when the league renevue streams ran dry.

We didn't do him dirty at all. He just expected to continue his sweetheart deal during a time when everyone else was being rolled back. And it's not like Seattle was the first team to come calling after we let him go, at least Tampa backed away from his demands as well.

How has he been for you? In hindsight he was actually pretty decent for the Coyotes, it was just that we were forced to deploy him as our 1C which is... not exactly the role for him.

Solid 4th line center. Plays a pretty good two way game. Not much more you can ask of him really. He's not as fast, or physical as Marty but brings more offense.

Lol these Boston losers are really taking the time to come into our thread and laugh at all the posts.
Here's something for them to read.
Your city is shit.
Your state, is shit.
Your team, and it's culture are shit and no one likes you.
You all have speech impediments, and the rest of the country finds you insufferable, we all hate you when you move south and invade like roaches.
Enjoy your high taxes, rude, pushy, co-habitants, overcrowding, and misery.
We will be down here in the carolina warm sun, enjoying miles of open space, liberty, endless beaches, mountains, real food (WTF is a boysenberry?) watching our fans make yours look like fools while we BBQ and tailgate like we're at a college football game and have too much fun for you to handle.

Huk huk huk, anyone wanna go to the NASCAR race and listen to some bluegrass?

Martinook is a lot like Foegele. Skates like hell to get to a certain point. Once that point is reached he accomplishes absolutely nothing, while usually falling down at the same time. And I wouldn't call him that physical. He throws an occasional solid hit, but other than that, I have no clue what he brings to the table. Good hallway screamer I guess.
I'm thrilled to see what Stepan can do. He's VERY smart and thinks the game like a true vet.

I listened to the game and didn’t think there was any weird bias in either direction and that JF 100% just did his job. It’s a national broadcast. You’re supposed to be rooting for both teams. Boston is down and the broadcasts attitude is going to always reflect that they want the now underdog to come back and make a series of it.

Also, listening to the completely over the top biased typical Canes broadcasts that have become the norm since John left probably has a few people off kilter in expectations.

Foglele at least could score.....sometimes. I feel like we got the short end of that Bear trade

National brodcasts ALWAYS slobber all over the Penguins and Bruins.

I’ll give Shane a bit of credit in that he does say the stick infractions are actually penalties. You’re right though it does seem as though since Forslund left it has ventured into some homerism but I’m cool with it come playoff time

I think that’s a reflection of how much those teams are in national broadcasts. The announcers are paid to slobber. When those are the same teams you see over and over I think the announcers end up just sounding that way over time.

And I think Lorentz is almost exactly the same player Foegele is. If we elevate his role I think we’d even see the same offense if not better. I think he overall thinks the game better than Foegele and even has a touch more puck poise. Better skater. They’re very similar players though.

Martinook is no loss if he's hurt. We need more scoring than marty party.

1. Hate to agree since I love Marty as a person, but that's pretty true. I mean, I think he adds good energy, but not a major loss imo.

2. As for Forslund, the national broadcasts always slobber over teams like Boston. It feels analogous to when a favorite player goes to a rival team, just painful to see them on that side.

3. Canes, please let me fully engage with my awesome Mom on Mother's day and not have to smile through the pain lol. I Hate Mother's Days games.

Well the moral of the story is I’m clearly the only humanitarian here showing sufficient umbrage at the brutal glass panel assault of an elder at the hands of irrationally exuberant fans…

That whole thing is being blown out of proportion. Literally every fanbase bangs on the glass. Hell, I can guarantee it'll happen at the PNC during Game 5. But because it happened to injure this guy this time, we're supposed to act like it's a rare occurrence and how dare the fans act like that and yadda, yadda, yadda?

We really miss Martinook in Arizona. He was a great role player for is. Is he not the same for you?

Isn't it sort of out job as fans of the opposing team to blow things out of proportion? 😉

He is but he’s like a lite version of Chad Larose in that he’s constantly getting over slotted too high in the lineup. That’s left most of us a little bit frustrated.

That sounds like Coyotes fans' reactions to most of our top six year in and year out. "He'd be perfect on the third line but we play him in the top six" is an example of something we say over and over again. Except we're the Coyotes, so we don't have someone better to play in the top six.

Edit: that's also exactly how we felt about Derek Stepan, as I mentioned earlier. He was our de facto 1C.

On the contrary, the first time I sat down by the glass at PNC, I banged on it and immediately had security on my ass.

This on both counts. It's in the broadcasters (and probably broadcast team's if they're paid on a per game basis) that this series isn't a total walkover.

It's weird but I'm less pissed about that loss than I have been just about any regular season loss this year. Just need to adjust to the adjustments they made on special teams and hope the next crew isn't blind enough to ignore the captain being hauled down in the middle of the zone just before they score on the pp

After the season Andersen had I highly doubt he wants to be rehabbing an injury rather than back in the crease. You can bet he's doing everything he possibly can to get back.
I'd like to hope so, but if that sweeping covid rules that covers injury is still in effect we may never know.

Like "what percent healthy" does he have to 'feel' inorder to play Hockey? We can't even ask those questions of course though not directly.

At 75% I'd hesitate a guess he's much better than our alternative options.
