First of all, that was a crushing hit and I genuinely hope that Lindholm is ok. With that said, damn.... what a hit

Seems there were a few people in Boston who took umbrage with the hit itself. And notorious blowhard, Jack Edwards feigned indignation over it?

And then Marchand tried to pick a fight with Kochetkov? lol good luck with that, pal

So, anyway, this has been a fun series. Boston seems to be enjoying it, no?

Nino is having himself a good postseason. Well, that's good, because its not like a contract year for him or anything, right?

Games have officially shifted up to Beantown. Canes are outscoring them 10-3 in the series and 26-4 in the 5 game season long series. But this should be our toughest test. Figure we'll have Koch in net as there's no real reason to play Raanta today if he's not fully 100%. You know Boston is going to throw everything they have at us tonight. They basically have to, because if this series goes to 3-0 its over. And lets be honest, if it even comes back to Raleigh next week at 3-1 its probably over on Tuesday as well. This is a must win game for the Bruins. If we can withstand the storm tonight, we're in a good spot looking ahead.

Game is at 7. Mike and Shane are on the call for Ballys, but our old friend Forslund will be on the call for TNT.

The first period will be big. It's going to take a lot for the Canes to go into the first intermission not down. Boston knows their best chance to win against us is if they score first and shut it down. Even if they do, they have to know we have the best third periods in the league. If we can even walk into 1st intermission tied 0-0, that bodes well for us in a road game.

It's going to be tricky for Rod to try to defend the perfection line. In the 3rd of the last game Cassidy put Pasta back on the first, and he might do that again. At home, Boston can roll this out against our 3rd pair, and that's what I'm afraid of. Smith has actually defended better than I've thought, but still he has usually been the culprit behind Boston's best scoring chances. I'm sure Boston will try to take advantage of that.

If we can score early, we're in great shape, particularly because they have a question mark goalie situation. Any doubt we can throw in that will shake the whole team.

I want to see a killer mentality for the Canes. Hard checks, constant forecheck, and the same PK we've seen so far this series.

They might get away with it once. If that's what they're doing Rod will put the NSF line out with the 3rd pair.

waaaay back, in the before-times, when the caps jumped out to a 2-0 series lead i kept saying a series doesn't start until someone loses on home ice or game 7, whichever comes first.

so, let's start this series tonight, maybe?

I mean… the series doesn’t start when someone loses game 7. That’s when it ends.

I was thinking about the "Slaying the Dragon" storyline, and I just realized we actually have a potential path to the Stanley Cup Finals that would involve beating every team that has eliminated us from the playoffs since we won the Cup (Boston, Pittsburgh, Tampa).

Obviously a lot would have to go right for that to happen (the team actually making it to all those rounds first and foremost), but what a cool story that'd be.

While potentially (unlikely) riding the back of a rookie goalie

it starts with game 7, it just ends a couple hours or so later.

but that's on me for poorly writing the sentence. it isn't 'the series starts when someone loses on home ice or loses game 7' though it can be read that way, it is 'someone loses on home ice or (puck-drop of) game 7'.

as ralph says: me fail english? that's unpossible!

Forslund had some great points on Adam Gold's podcast after last game. People talk a lot about Boston being able to dictate the matchups at home and doing as you suggest but as John pointed out, they really don't have an answer for us or any good options with matchups in this series.

Their success this regular season has been because they split up their top dawgs, obviously they're in desperation mode here and need a win and will try to change something up but they're going back to something that has not worked for them this season, to suddenly expect it to work now makes no sense.

Also, if they do go back to their best 3 on a line together, where does that leave their other lines? All 3 of their other lines will be completely outmatched. Our depth just absolutely outclasses them. It doesn't matter how you match them up, on the whole it will likely play into our favor if they go back to the 63-37-88, unless those 3 go complete God mode which in theory they are capable of, but they haven't shown in a long time.

Post game 2, Cassidy said they needed to play with more disclipline so- no penalities or gooning tonight, yeah? Glad to hear it.

Game as smooth as our first Av's game :sarcasm:
I mean that's exactly what Brindy was saying in 2019 as well. That got better, but the wheels still came off once the better team made their push. Don't be surprised if something similar happens tonight when we make ours.
