Athens is actually legit. One of the few cognitive thoughts he offered.

Athens, GA is building a 5,500 seat arena which they broke ground on in 2022. In the announcement, they stated their intention to bring a ECHL team in to serve as their main tenant. The league has never made an announcement, but countless sources state the ownership group owns the right to a ECHL expansion franchise. The arena opens this fall.

Here's some breaking new information on the new arena in Athens, GA still under construction. They hope to finish by August 2024 next year. It will seat up to 8,500, depending on the configuration. There apparently is a deal in place to host an ECHL team, with a team name to be announced later this month. The article does not say whether this is a new franchise or a relocation. There's no suggestion that it's the Atlanta Gladiators moving. In fact, the Gladiators this past summer signed a multi-year lease extension with Gas South District, so it's definitely not them.

Are you kidding me? We're in a post Breaking Bad world. The only issue is people who go there and skip the hatch Chiles and indigenous cuisine cuz there's no such thing as a Los Pollo Hermanos.
The cuisine in Albuquerque will include In N' Out within the next few years though...

Meanwhile, a soccer stadium proposal (which appears to be halfway to Rio Rancho) is close to approval.

New Mexico isn’t the richest state on earth in the first place. Sponsorship dollars are tighter than most places. And those sponsors already pay attention to New Mexico United. A permanent home cements more money, as new stadiums tend to do.

This makes any hockey venture a little more difficult. Not impossible, but not easy.
