Lake Tahoe had long been without a professional sports team until the Knight Monsters played their inaugural game in the ECHL Thursday against the Jacksonville Icemen at the Tahoe Blue Event Center.

While the result didn't end up in a win, the sellout crowd of over 4,200 was entertained by exciting hockey and even some overtime before the Icemen prevailed, 4-3. ...

Knight Monsters take down Jacksonville for First Win in Franchise History

STATELINE, NV – The Tahoe Knight Monsters, coming off an overtime loss on Thursday against the Jacksonville Icemen, responded Friday with a 3-1 victory for their first win in franchise history.

Troy Loggins scored an early power play goal, Brandon Tabakin added a shorthanded tally in the second, and netminder Jesper Vikman made 33 saves to lead Tahoe to victory.

“We made it a little bit more interesting than we wanted to, but all the credit to the guys to stick with it and get the two points at the end of the day,” said Tahoe head coach Alex Loh. “For me, it's more of a relief, to just get the win and now we can move forward from here.” ...

Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder about a new hockey team owner who doesn't realize the pro games end when the final horn sounds? :confused:

Don't look now (unless you really want to), but the Knight Monsters are 9th ranked in the League with a 25-15-3-1 record. They are just 4 points behind KC in the Mountain Division standings race. Not bad for rookies. :popcorn:
