Series Talk: ECFs Discussion - Rod: Game 5 is gonna be a doozy!

How about this for fate, what if Quenneville doesn't get forced out in '22? Maybe they don't flame out in the playoffs and the Tkachuk trade doesn't happen. Maybe they win 3 cups in a row, going for 4.

I'm not trying to sound arrogant but, this team just doesn't look talented on paper. Beyond the first line, you have a very very very average talent level. I know they play a good structured game, but if I were doing an on paper analysis, I would say the Panthers kill this team in 4-5 games. If Barkov and Reino shut down the top line as they often do, they will be relying on Roslovic, and an aging Staal? Slavin is good on defense, but the rest of that d-core is also very very average. Jury is out on Nikishin? What am I missing here?
Stankoven doesn't stank, he is pretty good.

I watched a lot of their games and the whole Washington series, they are not overloaded with talent, but they have a journeyman mentality, there are no passengers on that team, hard working, hard checking, great passes, stretching passes, simple game, puck goes out from D to the opposite D in no time, Bob is goin to get a lot of wood. they play very close to how the panthers play with great success, but without the talent. we can see some injuries in this one.

I didn’t watch a lot of that series but it was pretty glaring that they were quicker/faster than old Washington and had more desire. Ovi was a sack of potatoes.

Their PK is super active, we have to be ready, I don’t expect us to score much on PP. But their own PP makes up for it, it sucks maybe more than ours if possible. Their level of indecision is incredible. They’ll pass the puck around for two minutes if they don’t find the perfect shot, and if by luck they find the shot they rush it and miss. So those special teams will probably balance out unless one side is able to pot a couple of SHGs.

I would not say this is an easy one, they work hard, I was impressed with how they managed Washington and their physicality, so playing physical is not going to be good enough.
