I'm not trying to sound arrogant but, this team just doesn't look talented on paper. Beyond the first line, you have a very very very average talent level. I know they play a good structured game, but if I were doing an on paper analysis, I would say the Panthers kill this team in 4-5 games. If Barkov and Reino shut down the top line as they often do, they will be relying on Roslovic, and an aging Staal? Slavin is good on defense, but the rest of that d-core is also very very average. Jury is out on Nikishin? What am I missing here?

I think the same.

Of course, it has to be played on the ice.

But when looking at both line up + our experience + our physical play…I can’t how Panthers don’t win this series in more than 5 games…

Canes fans are Laughs Lite level. For example. When talking about Fors and Eetu:

Not sure what part of that is debatable? Leafs fans are delusional, this is pretty well rationalized.

That Canes D was stacked when they waived Gus, and Eetu was a solid prospect included in a two for one deal for a more established Tro, that deal worked out for both teams. Long term they are both wins for us sure, but the context of why those transactions are pretty solid.

The fact that they’re rationalizing well after the fact instead of admitting that they f’d up with Fors and didn’t get what they needed from Tro. It’s the unwillingness to face reality. We’ve had reality smack us in the face for two plus decades, so there’s little choice but to face it.

ETA: that’s why I called them Leafs Lite.

If you want to call Forsling a mistake sure. Tro for Eetu worked out both ways.

Leafs logic is more like 30 regular season games made Stolarz a top 5 NHL goalie.

That's delusional lol.

Either way we came out ahead don't think anyone debates it from our POV.

On 32 thoughts Friedman shared a story about Nate Schmidt.

Nate told Elliotte one of Bennett, Barkov, or Reinhart, wouldnt say who specifically, but during his first EXHIBITION game, he took the puck and did something with it (guessing it didnt go well), and when he went back to the bench, none of the coaches said anything to him.

But one of those 3 guys yelled at him saying "we dont do that here." In the offensive zone, we get freedom, but when we play defense we do this, and breaking out we do this, and thats it. And he said there is a peer pressure that we do this or you dont belong.

Unreal stuff. Our team has grown so much. Culture is established during exhibition games period.

listen to it here
