Series Talk: ECFs Discussion - Return of the Jerks! - Panthers Lead 3-1

FOLLOW THE MONEY
Sweeps are bad for business (unless you're in the janitorial trade).
Arena attendance (we may lose but let me wet my beak)
TV revenue (we spent a lot of money for this, we need to recoup)
Sports betting (self explanatory)

KIND HEARTED SCOUNDRELS
You may have tried to hurt our player but it's okay, here's a win.
See, we're not so mean.
Our bad press and reputation needs to be tempered.

JEYKLL & HYDE
It's non-epidemic, we're just schizophrenic.
Occasionally home-o-phobic.
Ice cream headlines: Tutti Frutti, let's play too cutie.

MAYBE, JUST MAYBE this group is....
so dysfunctional, they abhor rest, relaxation and home cooking (unless it's game seven)?
a mildly sadistic, oddly masochistic, unique mutation?
an easily bored collection of adrenalin junkies?

I credit the Canes for playing for pride and trying to make the series of this. While it's true that I thought the Panthers were atrociously bad last night, Carolina gets credit playing a great hockey game and finishing it off.

But, I am still honestly kind of incensed at how bad the Cats were last night. My parents watched the game and my mom texted me suggested they might have all gone out drinking the night before. Yep.

i was gonna go to the game last night but then i remember how they played the last closeout game the previous series

and for that matter

game 4 vs toronto 23
game 4 vs tampa 24
game 5 vs boston 24
games 4 thru f***ing 6 vs the oilers 24
game 4 vs the lightning 25 (tho tbf the games were pretty close overall)

for the most part losing is inevitably, its the playoffs and you face good teams coupled with desperation (look at us vs boston in 23), but its how we played that bothers me, its one thing to look tired or make a mistake, but the entire game theres 0 effort its hard to watch.

otoh
4 game sweep vs a better canes team than now with a worse off roster
3 in a row vs the rangers after dropping two in ot

It does suck getting shutout twice this post season with prob our most dangerous offensive depth especially since just one goal in either of those games wins it or takes it to OT

Jamie Kompon has his name on three Stanley Cup plates, is that right?

I really hope he's better at whatever he does that isn't the power play, honestly.
whats insane is how jekyll and hyde it is especially at home, going 0 for 8 or whatever this series especially being gifted 3 in the 3rd and two being back to back and barely putting any effort in there is boggling. Now honestly i think last game was player effort but still, out 6 on 5 has been super asscheeks since we used all of our luck vs boston and nothing has changed.

And i believe @ucanthanzalthetruth said this but even when we scored we didnt look good on it, mainly coming from off the rush vs setting it up

At least thank f*** the PK has been solid

I think having Reino off the PP has hurt simply due to his presence and having the defense respect him in the slot area.
But overall, it just seems so bland. Too much perimeter/blueline passes, while the 3 forwards barely move. Easy to clog the passing lanes or shots from the point if our forwards take a smoke break while in the offensive zone.

I like Chucky, but his passing is either on the point or 100% ass. His lack of skating, even more so lol, hurts too. Feel like they should just have him screen the goalie instead of playing down low in the corner

I’d like to see Tkachuk more net-front too. Seems like he always peels off to receive a pass and then tries to become playmaker which leaves the goalie completely unscreened. Probably one of the best guys in the league at being net-front, so idk why that’s not part of the gameplan
