The thing with Bennett is he doesn't need to fight often. He's a silent lethal threat on the ice and the players on opposition teams know it. To me he's a modern day under-cover Gary Roberts type player who's healthier and may never post the offensive stats of Gary but is just such a presence out there. IMO.
Messier cones to mind as well although he had 10x the talent. He would lurk and deliver a vicious hit, elbow, butt end that would go uncalled but be devastating to the opponent. Bennett is a solid all around player with physicality

Rangers gotta play with more of an edge and intensity, they're soy-boys. My favorite team, Lightning, might be lacking depth these days, but they fightback now, and have always gotten a pair when needed. If Rangers don't find their inner pit-bull, put a fork in them.

Panthers , keep smacking them around and team looks like a champion.

Rangers looking like the Hurricanes this game. Just skating around the perimeter firing harmless shots at distance.

That's a good comparison too.

Sam may never live up to his offensive potential (though he did have one 4 goal game in Calgary), but he has that edge. It's why guys like Reeves and Rempe will look at him and jostle him to see if he wants to go. Sam picks his times and will usually get a jump but he's game when he needs to be. Plus he has that hard-checking, sneaky Marchand-sucker-punch side like a Messier elbow as you say.

I don't know what it is about joining Florida, but all the players that have been acquired by them seem faster, harder to play against, and all play hard on the puck. I counted only 4 players that are home grown on their roster. Zito has done a heck of a job making this team a contender. Still a long way to go in game 6, but it's just proof you do not have to tank and draft to build a cup contending team. Interesting template.
Roids?
