PSA: I've decided I am done with updates for the 2020-21 season, what has been posted for TBL/Pivot are considered final releases and I'll update the titles.

We are just too deep into European FA at this point and I have a lot of league work to do ahead of me. Thanks as always for the amazing support in a challenging year, this community is the absolute best. I am absolutely delighted we were able to get 1.5 out the door!

Just realized the 1.5 update beta dropped, may have to get back in after a couple years away. Thank you to everyone who keeps working on this game!

So stoked about the new potential ranges. Long overdue!

Man, fans still rage when I make a trade as minor as Ian Cole (who I haven't even been playing and got like 1 point) for a 3rd round pick at TDL...

Yeah that's annoying. In the save I was simming, I took control of the Flyers for a few weeks, and made a few trades and within a couple weeks my job was 'very insecure.' I traded Jake Voracek to the Leafs (2x defending champs) for a 1st and 3rd, everyone was mad, and within a week he was made available - and its the off-season.

Is there a way for NHL teams to be able to hire an assistant from an NHL team to be your head coach while still under contract? I feel like that should be an option. Although I know the downside is that it would happen mid-season. But if it's the off-season I feel like it should be palatable if you buy out the contract.

I think these rage of fans thing is influenced by your team approach (rebuild, win now, etc...). Same happened to me in 1998. DB, I traded Keith Jones for 2nd rounder and fans and board went nuts.

Hmm, I never really though ght of that, I can't remember the last time I set m "team needs". Still, benches Ian Cole <> 3rd shouldn't make people mad lol

Sorry if it was brought up before but is 1.5 using the traditional EHM CA and PA, or is there a new rubric?

Unhappy goaltender who wanted to move to a stronger team (Carter Hart), who has great ratings, claimed off waivers by Wild who had 1st overall pick :confused:

@Beef Cake @xECK29x Yeah I've got a version of a one-league NCAA up and running too - no issues from the size of league standpoint - in fact my NHLX universe has an expanded 80-team league and there are no issues with the size which is great.

I am struggling to re-create the NCAA playoffs as accurately as possible though...I'm afraid a true real-to-life tournament format is going to be impossible. The NCAA does too many little nuanced selection things that I don't believe can be re-created in EHM, from the at-large bids based on rankings to the seeding system to the geographical 4-team opening round pods.

There are two ways to create the league structure in EHM:

1) Make the conference into divisions in a single conference format. The benefit of this is that you can create a 16-team playoff at the end of the season, with division winners receiving auto-bids and the rest of the teams selected with the regular season stage sorted as a single stage based on points. So in essence, you can create a pretty accurate 16-team field. The down sides are that you cannot setup conference championship tournaments and the main league screen becomes a nightmare with the standard sidebar showing the standings as a single huge field (it normally separates by conference).

2) Make the conferences into individual 1-division conferences. This allows you to setup a nice conference tournament championship playoff for each conference and then funnel everything into a league-wide playoff at the end. It also sorts the league screen in a much more pleasing way by conference. What I am struggling with is how to introduce extra teams into the NCAA tournament outside the conference playoff "Cup" winners and how to get this to 16. There are some editor options which may have some promise but I am working through how to use them. Ideally, say you have 6 conference playoff winners - they get bids of course because you can tell the NCAA playoff stage to pick the previous round of Cup Winners. But I need some way for the game to be able to sort the rest of the teams by regular season points and pick the additional teams, ignoring the Cup Winners - to be added. There aren't that many options available for a stage to select from a previous stage...you can add one additional stage but you can't change the selection criteria from what I see.

But basing on Option 2 above, here are some early looks. I'm still working on a schedule template that incorporates a slate of non-conference games for every club at the beginning of the year and maybe some mid-season "tournaments" like the Beanpot

You are always one step ahead of me! But glad you worked on it too. I actually just set up something similar with the 59 team/6 divisions into a 16 team bracket.

I actually had a question about the Team IDs in the scheduler.

Example would BU always be the same team ID? And if you did set up, the example of the beanpot, can we ensure that those matchups always happen?

Hey Archi, just wondering if you are aware of any problems with the latest editor with regards to crashing when creating a new league structure? When i go to rules and structures then click add item then add item again it just crashes to desktop. This was with 1.01

At first i thought i might have messed up my db but ive tried it with others and got the same issue, i reverted to 1.0 and same occurs but if i go back to 0.5.2 it works fine

update it also seems that if i do create a new league structure in 0.5.2 and then try load that db in 1.01 it crashes when loading

Thanks, yes I'm aware and am taking a look. It seems to relate to the playable league validater.

Pretty sure there was an editor for that before too.
I thought that was only the assistant.

Anyways I tested the save I’ve been playing for a few years off and on and changed retired numbers for the Flyers and it corrupted so I don’t discount they i am just inept at it

The EHM Editor? If so, yes, this has always been able to edit EHM files in theory. However, as the pop-up warning says, there's very little that can be edited without irreversibly corrupting the saved game.

Here's a hotfix: Eastside Hockey Manager Editor (v1.0.2) - EHM The Blue Line

CHANGELIST: VERSION 1.0.2 (02-May-2021)

Fixes and Improvements:
  • Fixed a crash when creating or importing a new Playable League Structure caused by the 'maximum league games' validation rule where no stages are initially present;
  • Goalies are now set to 15 Pass Tendency when applying the Auto-Set Pass Tendency mass editor;
  • Historical club names are now reverse sorted by ID; and
  • Rolling saves are now saved as "database-[xxx].bak" instead of "database[xxx].bak" in order to avoid conflict where the base database.db filename contains digits.

There is an EHM Assistant, this one edits saved games a bit more safely. It's posted here as a mediashare link.

EHM Editor is supported by Archi and is used for creating and editing databases pre game. I have used it to alter things in saved games without corruption but it's limited in that regard and EHM is a finicky beast.

Oh yeah, I do have that one.

One problem I've had on my long-term save, apart from Swedish and KHL playoffs not loading, is that I'm running Dinamo Riga, trying to build up the Latvian system and they don't have a pro affiliate, and doesn't appear the assistant can fix that. I'm not as concerned about it so much because I want to start a new save (because there's no best-on-best international tourneys either) with some custom mods.

Aren't Olympics best on best in EHM ?!
