All of these teams competing for the 2nd wildcard in the Eastern Conference are pathetic.

Exactly and as an Islanders fan who is concerned about our prospect pool and our GM I ask what’s the point? It’s the same shit every year sneak in and out after 5 games. Only this season Lou didn’t trade a first but he still bundled the deadline.

I think it’s down to the Habs and CBJ, but yeah I doubt they get to 90 points.

The only point is to prove to people they still care even if the team is borderline extinct when it comes to high end talent. Toss in the fact they should finish above the Rags for comedic purposes and the CBJ call pissing off too much of the fanbase. Would be honestly comical to see them finish above Detroit and Montreal eventhough those are supposed to both be up and coming teams of the future.

They score 5 on Tampa and Kucherov throws a temper tantrum like he did in the ECF a few years back. This time he gets himself rocked instead of hiding behind the ref as soon as he can.

Two years ago the 1st and 8th seeds were separated by 43 standings points and a staggering 111 points in their respective point differentials. We all know how that turned out. Similar story in 2019.

And while yeah those 8 seeds are likely better than this year’s , so were the 1 seeds.

I've only watched hockey going on 10 years which is less than a lot of people here and even in that short time, I have learned that ANYTHING is possible in the playoffs. There are no guarantees.

The Caps may blow it, but I can't imagine them going in overconfident, given they've blown the 1v8 matchup before. So they'd have to blow it in other new and agonizing ways.

I doubt that, actually. Some of these teams match up well against the Caps regardless of the Caps’ superiority. The playoffs in almost all sports are about matchups. Also, this incarnation of the Caps has almost no playoff pedigree yet.
