Eastern Conference Wild Card Watch

Maybe not, but they’ll have to beat some good teams down the stretch to keep pace with Montreal, whose schedule is less daunting.

Avg pts per opponent the rest of the way, not much difference.

Montreal-76 pts
Columbus-81 pts

Columbus also has 1 more home game than Montreal

There is no way to know which of the 6 teams will get the last 2 spots.

There are betting odds. They tend to be accurate. You can safely count out Philly, Buffalo, Boston, Detroit, and soon the NYR, at this point. Habs and NYI are most likely.

Columbus has to win 1 game to pass Montreal, the Islanders and the Rangers. I don't consider 2 points in 12 games really hot.

They would actually have to win and NY lose in regulation for them to overtake the Islanders, as for Montreal a Columbus win and Montreal lose in regulation would make them tied but Montreal has tiebreaker advantage. All 3 teams have played 70 games

Edmonton was the betting favorite to win the Stanley Cup this season. That looking accurate?

The Rangers were the 3rd betting favorite. Looking good there?

Nashville was the 4th favorite in the west, that looks good as well I see?
Ya those were based on playing 0 games, now there is only about 12 left, so would be more accurate now, than before season started.

That’s a bad analogy. Edmonton was the “betting favorite” ay the start of the season, 7 months before the start of the playoffs. We’re taking about betting odds now for something that ends in 3 weeks, and that factors in strength of schedules.

Who cares?

The Habs are pacing for 88 points looking at a playoff spot. There's barely 2 legitimate cup contenders in the conference.

Point being that if the East had those bottom feeder teams instead, it’s almost certain every playoff team would have at least a few extra points

Who do you consider the 2 legit cup contenders?

Probably the same number of people who care about your opinion of the East and/or your attempt to start shit here.
Pointing out the fact that there's garbage teams "competing" for the 8 seed (not an opinion, a fact) doesn't equal starting shit.

St. Louis (#8 in the west) currently has a higher Point% than New Jersey (#6 in the east). Thats laughable. Whats even worse is Montreal (#8 in the east) is behind #9 and #10 in the west.

Florida and Tampa are the contenders.
they were expected to be a bottom 5 team, by you and 99.9999% of the other experts on here. Apologies if they somehow make it
Good for them? This isnt an attack on the Habs, its on the #8 seed in the east having a pathetically low point total. This could easily end up being about the Rangers too if that makes you feel better
