One of Harris or Edmundson has to be traded at the draft and the other at the TDL.

Hoffman if he doesn’t have a great camp, or he can’t get trade send before the season you send him to the AHL (if you think it is too much of a distraction you send loan him to another AHL team).

Gallagher we have cap space for the next two season but ideally we could move him within that time

Anderson will be over paid but he won’t over the hill he will maintain some value just because of size and skating.

Price, someone might be willing to take that contract once next year signing bonus is payed out. Over 3 year that will be 16M$ for 31.5M$ on the cap 15.5M$ saving even before insurance kick in team like ARZ have a lot of ELC coming in they have plenty of space in the next 3 years, worst case is last season after the bonus it will be 2M$ for 10.5M$ of cap.

The UFA market isn’t great but we can over pay on a a short term deal 1-2 years can we could flip at the deadline at 50%.

Keep this 4th line intact for next season I'd say. They play well together. They bring enthusiasm. Well Evans center Pezz and Belzile. Tierney 13th forward. Hoffman and Armia DFA them to Laval. If nobody claims them.

Ylonen and RHP on second line. Dach centering them. See if it works? Heinemann makes third line with Dvorak and Anderson.

22-23 is done, thank god. Let's start looking forward to next year!

Use this thread to post your realistic but still ideal lineups.

Dubois-Suzuki-Caufield
Hoffman-Dach-Monahan
Slafkovsky-Dvorak-Gallagher
RHP-Evans-Ylonen
Pezzetta

Matheson-Barron
Guhle-Savard
Xhekaj-Harris
Kovacevic

Montembault
Allen

Anderson++ should get us Dubois. Do whatever it takes to get rid of Edmundson and Armia.

(If anyone sees (or saw) this post before it was done, I learned the hard way that accidentally hitting ctrl+enter submits posts!)

For the love of god, this year's 1st round pick should not play in the NHL next year.
Fair enough. I wouldn't mind Monahan back so I've swapped him in for Benson. TBH I'd rather we draft Smith (or get lucky and move up enough for Carlsson), but I have a feeling we'll end up with Benson.

I imagine it will be something like

Dach - Suz - Cock
RHP - Dvo - Hoff
Slaf - Evans - Gally
Ylonen - (whatever - Pitlick?) - Heineman

lots of Edmunson minutes again probably…

Stopping there; I’m already a bit depressed, it’s sunny out and in Hughes I trust for some off-season moves!

Laval might be fun to follow though.

Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Dubois - Dach - 2023 1st
Hoffman - Dvorak - Gallagher
Pezzetta - Evans - Armia
Guhle - Savard
Xhekaj - Matheson
Harris - Barron
Allen
Monty

This is pre TDL. I think Habs will have to trade Anderson sooner or later to clear cap room as Gallagher is basically untradeable until next offseason and even still, it'll suck for the Habs. I think they do a sign and trade for PLD this offseason when he's still an RFA and the 2023 might develop under MSL but on a different line than Slaf. I do believe Habs have a more active TDL next year than this past one tho. Everyone pretty much knew this years would be a dud

I put no faith in winning lottery but do believe we can trade for Dubois... especially if the Jets get eliminated quick in round 1 and Panthers don't make final 4. 17th overall pick should still hold good value. Maybe they want Farrell/Kovacevic back along with Dvorak. Slafkovsky IMO should start year in AHL, if he can't produce there he has no business being in NHL as a teen. Hopefully Monahan is telling the truth and he's basically back to full health and willing to sign bonus filled contract. Don't think anyone we draft at 5/6 deserves to be in NHL. Move Edmundson for a pick and try to flip Hoffman for a more defensive 3rd liner.

As for the roster:
NHL
Monahan - Suzuki - Caufield (the line worked early in the season)
Dubois - Dach - Anderson (Anderson/Dubois have some familiarity I imagine from CBJ days)
Hoffman - Evans - Gallagher
Pinard - Ufa/Condotta - Armia
Pezzetta/Ylonen

Matheson - Barron
Guhle - Savard
Xhekaj - Harris
Wideman/UFA

AHL
Slafkovsky - AHLer/Richard/Stephens - Mesar
Roy - Kidney - Heinemann
Simoneau - Davidson - AHLer/Belzile
Etc

Struble - Mailloux
Trudeau - Beaudin
Etc

Norlinder and Mysak both loaned to SHL/Czech league respectively.

Without Dubois and Monahan..... and Hoffman far , far away.....

RHP - Suzuki - Caufield
Slaf - Dach - Anderson
Ylonen - Dvorak - Gallager or Armia (one of the two has to go)
Pezz - Evans - Heineman - Belzile

With Dubois and IF Monahan is really healthy and affordable. Dvorak + pick should be dealt for Dubois

Caufield - Suzuki - Dach
RHP - Dubois - Anderson
Slaf - Monahan - Gally or Ylonen or Armia
Pezz - Evans - Belzile or Ylonen or Heineman

D-men

Matheson - Savard
Guhle - Barron
Xhekay - Kovacevic
Harris

Edmundson ?????
