Hey Dobbie, Honka is for me killing for me in my GM. He is 20 years old and a 83ovr, also putting up big points.

Will putting Boone Jenner (4 green stars) on the wing instead of center hurt his potential over the long run? I've had him on the wing for a while now because Yakupov got hurt and he is second on the team in points.

I think once Yakupov comes back he will fit beautifully into the second line, but if it lowers his ceiling I guess he'll have to be a third liner.

Is there any way to view line chemistry in GM? Or did EA take that out of the game..

:help:

No way to view chemistry.

There are things you can do to improve so-called "chemistry", like player types (SNI-PLY-SNI), (LW-C-RW), (OFD-DFD), and that sort of thing.

But there's no way to quantitatively have it measured and presented.

Something that would be nice to include in the future.

As long as he's playing in or above his defined role (2nd line etc), then he will be fine.

Everyone plays players out of position all the time - I've had GM mode teams build that have a forward group made up of 9 or 10 centers

Preview of my next writeup. traded some players for the 2nd overall pick in the 2016 draft to take a North Korean defenseman who was 4.5Gold and 72overall!

North Korea is shelling out prospects!

Thats great news! I was hoping he'd be able to play on the marlies (I made some room for him) but i forgot he had a WHL team... WHOOPS! Hopefully he will develop and ill have a great group of young defensemen. With Ekblad, Honka, Gardiner, Rielly and Sustar heading forward it looks promising. Vanier looks promising as well, fingers crossed.

@Tak7- Thanks! Looking forward to this one.

After one year (at age 19) Honka will be eligible to play on the Marlies

Thanks for the heads up, i didnt know that actually. Is that a Euro prospect thing? Ive never heard of it before, i thought it was 20.

24/12/2014, Toronto, ON- Twas the night before Christmas and all through the rink, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.....

The leafs head into the Christmas break with an impressive 17-11-4 record which has them in the top wildcard spot in the east, this is far better then anyone would have guessed at the beginning of the season. Many of the young kids on this team are playing far better then most expected. Kessel and Van Reimsdyk have lit it up, scoring at a point per game rate up to this point and younger players such as Leblanic with 17 pts (9+8) in 32 games, Rielly with 20 pts (3+17) in 32 games and even young defender TJ Brennan who has 11 pts (1+10) in 31 games. The scoring has come by committee so far, something Toronto teams in the past have been lacking. Tough guy Fraser Mclaren has netted 4 goals and 3 assists in 32 games while the 6'8 bruising defense Andrej Sustar has netted 6 pts (1+5) in 32 games while posting a team leading +8. Free agent signing Theo Peckham is fulfilling his roll with a team leading 56 PIMs and 6 pts (3+3) in 32 games.

When asked about the teams early success, GM Andrew Dobson has this to say "We are not fooled by this early success, it still doesn't change our rebuild plans. This team has had a lot of early success in the past few years but always falls off the cliff come January/ February. It still doesn't change our plans to sell off some of our vets who are playing very well at the moment, and acquire young prospects and picks for the future. We don't want to risk our future just to make another short playoff run in the present. The goal is not to make the playoffs but to win the Stanley cup and i don't see a Stanley cup winning roster in front of me."

Next update: Trade deadline 2015

Hello and welcome to the 2015 Off season Report for team Japan. It includes retirements, and a trade that Chicago offered at the draft. Well lets start with who decided it was time to settle down and retire.

Greg Zannon
Willie Mitchell
Saku Koivu
Jarko Ruutu
Luka Vidmar

That left a big hole in the struggling teams lineup. heading into the draft. It was made bigger with a trade that went down as the draft began.

To Chicago Brain Gionta
To Japan 2016 1st round pick, 2016 2nd round pick.

When asked about the trade the GM of Team Japan said, "We will miss him but he is 36 years old and we need to build with youth. We jumped at this offer."

With that done it was time for the draft. Here is how it played out for Team Japan.

Round 1
(2nd overall pick) Mathew Brazal C PLY 55ovr 4.5 yellow stars
(10th overall pick via STL) Gabriel Gagne RW PWF 55ovr 3.5 Gold Stars

Round 2
(34th overall pick via NYI) Daniel Sprong RW SNP 54ovr 4.5 red stars

Round 3
No picks

Round 4
(91st overall pick) Martin Kokes D TWD 50ovr 2 yellow stars

Round 5
(121st overall pick) Ryan Oban D DFD 48ovr 2.5 red stars

Round 6
(151st overall pick) Jack Palmer LW TWF 48ovr 2.5 red stars

Round 7
(181st overall pick) Tyler Coulter LW TWF 48ovr 2.5 yellow stars

With the draft over it was time to look at the re-sign phase of things, and as always we will start with players leaving

Adam Hall
Drew Bagnall
Nick Tuzzolino
Bryeden Irwin
Patrick Kaleta
Alex Hutchings

With them gone, here is who the team re-signed.

Geoff Walker 2yrs 0.900
Luke Adam 1yr 1.430
Erik Wellwood 1yr 0.705
Mark Pysyk 2yrs 0.670
Jerome Gauthier-Leduc 2yrs 0.645
Johan Larsson 1yr 0.665
Gustav Possler 1yr 0.575
Topps Smith 1yr 0.595
Yutaka Fukufiji 1yr 0.695
Masao Ueno 1yr 0.610

Now here is who they offered a entry level contract too:

Alex Moddie 3yrs 0.575
Nicolas Baptiste 3yrs 0.575
Malte Stromwall 3yrs 0.575
Mike Kunzle 3yrs 0.650
Alex Gudbranson 3yrs 0.575
Alex Forsberg 3yrs 0.575
Jason Fram 3yrs 0.575 (7th round pick that's working...kinda)
Miles Koules 3yrs 0.575
Julius Honka 3yrs 0.800
Sam Reinhart 3yrs 0.850
Justin Bailey 3yrs 0.575

After that it was time for July 1st, and with room to move and big names that left Chicago out there many speculated if they would try to land J.T. In the End they didn't agree on a deal though. However they think they picked up the best free agent on the market this year. Here is who they signed.

Adam Erne 3yrs 0.950 (Entry Level Contract!)
Chris Higgins 4yrs 2.810
Ryan Malone 1yr 2.720
Drew Miller 1yr 2.215
Alec Martinez 2yrs 2.535
Even Oberg 1yr 1.505
Mike Weaver 1yr 1.005

That's is it for the Off Season report, we will be back with the season report next. Like always feel free to give advise to the GM.

Ill do a proper write up after work, stay tuned!!

I'll have a writeup on my teams top prospects of the year and the season preview sometime tonight hopefully. For sure will get started on it.

Reinjured my back again so I have nothing to do but sit around and play NHL

I have regretfully made the decision to abandon my writeups. It takes too much time in a busy schedule. Would like to do them. But I just can't

Yeah I understand. I shortened mine up a lot and when I did I found it a lot more fun and less time consuming. Sad to see you go Gino :(

If I do decide to continue it will be for a different team. Maybe I'll just have my wild team for me to go at a fast pace and them I can do a rebuild with a team like the islanders or something.

Just do some briefing writeups. Nothing too fancy and or time consuming.

If I do decide to do another writeup what team would you guys want to see?
