Dylan Strome has finally arrived

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Washington is still on an insane PDO bender right now, itll even out. Should be interesting to see if hes a ppg type of guy going forward after this season though. (shooting 12.4% even strength, highest last year was 9.6% - Vancouver. With an average of 30 sog a game, thats nearly an entire goal difference)

There will be regression but they are going to be an elite offense all year.

He's panning out to his full potential this season and has shown to be quite underrated.

Washington sure got a steal on his contact.
As I remember, his full potential was an elite 1C. Like upside was a top 10-15 center in the league who was good at everything except skating. Is that really the case? Or does he just look capable of holding his own as a first line center?

He's absolutely an elite 1C. I thought before the season he'd end up being a top 20 C; now, I'm thinking top 15. (He's currently 6th in P/G among players listed as centers, so saying he'll end up top 15 is taking into account some regression.)

He was on the borderline last season, IMO, but he was on a horrific offensive team so his numbers didn't show it.

He's still not an amazing skater, but despite prior comments, he's very solid defensively. (It's easy to see if you watch him regularly, but for those who want numbers: he plays on a line with Ovi and they're doing really well 5v5, so who do you think is playing defense on that line?)

Protas, Lol. But he has improved defensively(He and Ovie have both been pretty diligent defensively) and the Caps have a great skating coach that's worked wonders with many of the players(Wilson, Cristall, Protas, etc...) and I think Strome has improved a little, still not very good, but no longer at Andreychuk levels. His hockey sense and Hands are really good, and he's just at a totally different level of confidence.

He legit should be on team canada for the 4 nations

Surely Chicago must have quite the center depth and not be running guys like Jason Dickinson and Nick Foligno in their top 6 to move on from such a good player in his prime!

We've seen this with other players. He will come back to earth, unsustainable run. The numbers are there pointing that. Still great for him to become a top liner. But he's no top 15 C on this league

I get Chicago was rebuilding when they let him go but why weren’t they able to trade him for something? Or resign on a short deal with the intention of playing him a lot, to boost his value and trade him for a boat load of picks at the following deadline or offseason. I was surprised when they let him go for nothing but I hadn’t watched him much in Chicago so I assumed they knew he was mostly a product of playing with Kane similar to many other hawks forwards throughout the years. But he’s obviously im Washington he’s proven Chicago wrong and letting him go for nothing seems more puzzling than ever. Either was it’s been great to see him with Ovechkin finally live up to his draft pedigree.
Nobody wanted him. He wasn't seen as a player that could have helped anyone win. His Qualifying Offer was high as he was only a year removed from UFA years. After the Hawks didn't qualify him, he was an Unrestricted Free Agent and anyone could have had him for only the cost of cap space. He signed with Washington on a 1 year deal for less than his Qualifying Offer. At the time, presumably in the entire League, nobody wanted him for more than what Washington offered at 1 year/$3.5 million.

Davidson can get some egg on his face for the poor asset management here, but legit 31/32 teams could have had him for very little and he broke out playing alongside the greatest goal scorer in NHL history. Good for him.

Strome, Dach, and now Bedard. I'm starting to worry about Bedard in Chicago.
Strome was given every opportunity in the world to succeed in Chicago despite his warts. It’s probably part of the reason he is succeeding now.

Hoping that Strome ends up being an Oshie 2.0. Not in playing style, but as a guy who was known on a previous team, but switches to the Caps halfway through his career and lights it up and becomes a fan favorite. Finishes career off known for being a great Capital.

Happy to have the guy.
