Value of: Dylan Larkin

I'll give it a shot with a futures package, but I understand he's probably not traded.

Carolina's 1st 25
Dallas' 1st 25
Andrei Svechnikov
Jackson Blake

Detroit isn't trading Larkin, and this is beyond trash return. A lot of teams including MN would beat this easily.

That's more than Eichel or Ryan O'Reilly got. I understand Detroit may not want to move Larkin and if they do may not want futures . But Two mid 1sts,a prospect that was a mid 1st last year + extras, and no negative assets is a ton of value.

Eichel is not a comparable situation to just about anybody.

The one that is a a direct comparable to this one... where he was a two way left handed defensively elite Centre traded near 30 with term on a good contract. Buffalo to St. Louis

Thanks for clearing up. As a recap, that trade was Tage Thompson, (Former 1st) 1st round pick, and 2nd round pick, + extras.

Which kinda looks pretty close to this...

There's some gap sure, when you consider that STL happened to win the Cup, and the 2nd is a 2nd... But O'Reilly also had never come remotely close to a PPG season at that time. Larkin has been right around there three of the last four seasons.

O'Reilly also played on far worse teams in Buffalo and was one of the best defensive forwards in the league. Larkin is a little better but so are the quality of the picks.

Would pay a lot to have Strome, Larkin, PLD, and Dowd as the Caps centers for the foreseeable future.

Is Detroit trying to rebuild again? Can’t imagine Steve Y or the fans have the patience for that. As it is, even with Larkin, hard to see how they finish better than 6th or 7th in the Atlantic next season.

To me that's Detroit big issue. The Atlantic is becoming more competitive, I don't see how they beat out other teams for a playoff spot and I also don't see them wanting to rebuild.
