I always thought it was a dumb decision not to sign Holloway(youth, speed, strength, low cap hit), but i don't think that anyone saw this coming. STL fans have to be thrilled. Snuggerud should be added sometime next year, and maybe Dvorsky. Add them to Thomas and Kyrou, and you have a solid, young, top 6 of the future.

I disagree. There were people who were saying he was an absolute steal right from the start. He was one of Edmonton's most noticeable forwards in the playoffs last year.

Really impressive. Protas kinda has sucked all the “breakout star” air out of the room, but Holloway is right there as well. In the calendar year of 2025, Holloway is tied for 23rd in the entire NHL in scoring - ahead of guys like Nylander, Barkov and Stutzle and just a point behind the likes of Marner and Scheifele. That’s the kind of company his production has been in the last 3 months. That’s with a 12.9 shooting%. He’s tied for 21st in EVP since the turn of the calendar. No shooting bender or “PP merchant on a bad team” syndrome here.

It’s a pretty outrageous breakout story.

After watching Edmonton in the playoffs, Holloway is rhe prize. Kid was very noticeable. Really reminds me of a more skilled sunny.

It seemed like every game I watched, holloway was noticeable. He was always hard in the play, good skater with good size. I had absolutely no reason to focus on him but I seemed to see him every game, whereas someone like rnh was completely invisible.

Is he paid more than his production? Sure. He seemed like a $5 million+ player in the playoffs. That contract already seems incredible.

I mean, maybe it was a fluke playoff, as I didn't watch them in the season. We'll see, I guess.

Very good season nonetheless. I didn't see any 60 point predictions this offseason.

This is an excellent point. I expect a bit of a regression next season. He’s playing out of his mind right now. Let’s see how he does next season. I’m confident, but you still make a good point.

Surprising that he suddenly starts doing better when he's not playing 9 minutes a game with Derek Ryan.

I don't understand why so many teams/coaches insist on having their top prospects in the NHL only for them to ride the bench 85% of the time. Holloway only played 63 games with Bakersfield over 3 years, which doesn't even amount to a full season. So he was essentially either riding the bench in the NHL or not playing at all.

Not at all surprised he's doing better with 17 minutes a game, and a good, consistent linemate in Kyrou (and Schenn)

Sorta reminds me of Nino Niederreiter (not style-wise, but development path-wise) like how in the world did the Isles expect him to develop playing 10 minutes a night with Jay Pandolfo and Matt Martin?!
