Value of: Dylan Cozens

Its an internet discussion board, lol.

If you can find a single Sens fan who expected Norris would return a long-term piece + a high draft pick, I will eat my hat. DJ (edit: Green, lol) and Staois have both sung his praises, but he is still clearly behind Stutzle, Tkachuk, Batherson, Sanderson, Chabot, Ullmark, probably Zub and Jensen, and arguably Pinto or Greig in terms of our most important players. He is in a similar position as Norris, except without the concern that he can be seriously hurt at any given moment.

Cozens is a good player, but he is also clearly one of our more expendable high-paid players. This team isnt a contender. If Cozens can be moved for someone like Cirelli, that is an obvious move to look into.

That said, I don't think anyone feels Cozens has worn out his welcome, doesn't have a future here, or is a problem. Only insecure Sabres fans who are desperate for anything to celebrate after their first three offseason moves are retaining their awful GM, retaining their awful coach, and hiring a homophobic meathead.
You realize what a catch 22 this is right lol?

have fun with your cousins!...I mean Cozens.
Thanks. I'm glad we had him down the stretch, instead of an injured Norris, and made the playoffs as a result. It was the most fun I've had watching hockey since we last made the playoffs, which feels like it was forever ago.

Cozens thread? Really?
He’s obviously not going anywhere but for argument sake - Ottawa has the necessary centre depth to make the deal.
Pinto 2C
Greig 3C
This works for me given I had thought if they moved Norris it would be for a winger or D man.

Personally if we were moving him then I’d move him for a guy RD like Hronek or a signed Rasmus Andersson.

I mean if Ottawa is tired of him I don't see why not trade him for Karlsson. But I believe Cozens has a lot left to prove and personally believe he can be that guy. Buffalo is just a trash organization and I think next year he'll be a lot better.

The guys who’ve been good when they left the Sabres are guys who were also good on the Sabres. Cozens is not that. Dude has room temperature hockey IQ.

What exactly does TB get out of a Cozens for Cirelli swap? That seems like an absolute pipe dream. They get a lesser player at a higher cap hit. TB would be absolute fools to make that deal (I get that you didn't propose that deal just throwing my 2 cents out there).
I can't speak for others but I really don't harbor any ill will towards Cozens. He honestly seemed like a nice enough guy, who showed some flashes here and there but he just disappeared for such long stretches that I was happy to see the team move on from him. We'll see what we have in Norris. My gut tells me we got the better player but clearly that won't matter if he can't stay healthy.
I am curious who the: "homophobic meathead" is in our organization?

The Staal brothers have not taken part in pride nights. I guess not sure on Jordan, but Marc and Eric have not put on the gear. I am not sure why this fires people up so much, but to each their own.

Ahh ok thanks for the clarification. I guess I vaguely remember that. Seems like a nothing burger to me. I certainly wouldn't say someone is homophobic because they refused to wear a jersey promoting gay pride as a devout Christian. I'd generally prefer sports keep these social issues completely out of their leagues all together, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

I have no issue with people who won't participate in or promote Pride or who have opinions on human sexuality that I don't agree with. The way that Eric Staal specifically went about addressing this issue makes me pretty confident he's just a homophobic meathead, but at the very least he doesn't express his thoughts like someone I would want as a key member of my front office (which E. Staal might not be in any case).

Cozens is big, athletic, hardworking, and doesn't miss any games. He just has the hockey IQ of a potato. He'll have some stretches of scoring, but he'll be a negative on the ice most of the time. He's never going to be the guy because of that.

Username/post combo checks out

If (I know this is a massive if), Cozens could potentially be had... I would love for Conroy to start talks with Ottawa around Andersson and Cozens... I know he was in on him when he was traded to teh Sens but Buffalo was demanding Zary.

You're not terribly wrong there or with your assessment of the Sabres' powers that be. It's just annoying when this fact along with Sabres poor record on the ice gets dragged into trade proposals and the assessment of player value. The "Sabres effect" or the fact that, as someone else put it, players come to Buffalo to do their worst work, needs to be factored in at this point, Cozens apparently being one of the exceptions.

It's a message board. We're fans. We know our team sucks and ownership is a big part of it. Nothing to do with "insecurity".
Also, whether we agree on a trade proposal in here or not makes no difference at all at the end of the day.
So why not have fun with it on the trade board and look at players and team needs as unbiased as possible.
Ok, regarding that last part it's probably more realistic to wish for world peace, but you get the gist.

Cozens was addition by subtraction for us.

No, but I'd certainly say that they aren't much of a "devout christian" with that behavior.
