Love the little story of Matthews telling him that he’s a hell of a player in the handshake lineupYes Pinto's metrics and results are excellent as a shutdown role.

Fair enough, all things being equal though, the down time and injuries swings things to Cozen's side.I disagree. Norris is the better goal scorer, and was working on a solid 200 foot game, but Cozens is a better centreman, is better at carrying the puck, and is better at making plays. The clincher for me will be if Green and company can round out his defensive game like they did for Norris.
Nice hockey trade in my opinion as we need more of what Cozens offers in the position. I miss Norris on the team though, that pp one timer was deadly.
Definitely. There is no debate.Fair enough, all things being equal though, the down time and injuries swings things to Cozen's side.
Stronger and a goodly portion of physical play with a tad of meanness.Really happy he scored. He needed it and the team needed it. I am a Cozens fan and supporter and I still think the Sens are ahead on the trade with the fit and what Cozens brings over Norris.
Overall I found he just ok and I found he lost his balance quite a bit.. He has done that before but I noticed it more last night... I think Cozens lacked good coaching in Buffalo for most of the time he was there . I have no idea what his off seasons have been like either... but he needs to get stronger to reach his upside.
Sounds like a good winger if we can land a good 2C.Cozens is weak defensively and is not much of a playmaker. That means he’ll have to be a scoring centre…can he do that?
I missed that, do you have a link?Love the little story of Matthews telling him that he’s a hell of a player in the handshake lineup
I find it hard to understand how so many posters on this board can have different opinions on Cozens....actually not opinions but people state them as facts.Cozens is weak defensively and is not much of a playmaker. That means he’ll have to be a scoring centre…can he do that?
People have different opinions but I’m not sure anybody here would call him defensively sound.I find it hard to understand how so many posters on this board can have different opinions on Cozens....actually not opinions but people state them as facts.
Over the course of this thread, I have read people say he is very good defensively, and other say he isn't...some say he is a good center, others sure he is better at wing.
I know this happens with a lot of players, but with Cozens, it seems like even more than usual, many have made up their mind of exactly how good he is and will be, and nothing will change their mind either way.
The HockeyWriters have an interesting article on the best ever defensive forwards in the NHL. I saw all of them play except for the two old-timers from the early 1900s.Pinto seems to be thriving as a shut down centre, I guess some guys just have a feel for it.
So, what do his stats say?People have different opinions but I’m not sure anybody here would call him defensively sound.
It takes a certain mindset including high hockey IQ plus the skills required to excel at it (e.g., skating, positioning, hustle, speed, anticipation, stick work, etc.).Pinto seems to be thriving as a shut down centre, I guess some guys just have a feel for it.
This pre-draft bio of Pinto has him as an offensive player while I thought they drafted him for his defensive ability. The good news is that he is now defensively very strong, a very good two way 200' player, good at faceoffs & can add offence which he now seems to be breaking out as he begins to realize just how good he can be. If he can add another 10 lbs of muscle & become a little more physical he will get so much better & be much harder to play against, I think he will have his best offensive season next yr, same for Greig.

Shane Pinto - 2019 NHL Draft Prospect Profile - The Hockey Writers NHL Entry Draft Latest News, Analysis & More
2019 NHL Draft prospect profile of USHL forward Shane Pinto, a right shot center who has been a consistent scorer at every level of hockey.thehockeywriters.com
It's The Hockey Writers, so you have to take it with a grain of salt. It's no different than pulling up a post on here. Could it be a super knowledgeable person who watched a ton of Shane Pinto posting about him? Possibly. But odds are it's someone churning out content who doesn't know a lot about him.
THW just re-words (and in certain cases outright plagarizes) what other people say/write about a prospect.
I've been saying for a long-time that no one should trust their "analysis".
Agree, but Green would put Norris in for Dzone faceoffs. I don't think the coach trusts Cozens in the Dzone as much, at least not yet.To be fair, Cozens isn't bad at faceoffs, and even Giroux who had the best record in the league has struggled. Tavares just seems to be dialed in.
