Is there a way for the Penguins to offer a futures focused package for Cozens? It's becoming pretty apparent that Malkin is best suited off as a winger, so they'd need a center to push Malkin to the wing. Cozens has taken a few steps back since he signed his deal back in 2023, but he's still pretty young and has a higher upside than his performance this year.

It's hard to gauge his value because he only has 20 points in 39 games but he's still young and has shown to be a very good NHLer, and I doubt Buffalo would be moving him for a bad return.

No. The last thing we need is futures. We’re stocked with prospects, we need nhl players now.

Yeah that's kinda what I figured, and the Penguins NHL roster kinda sucks so I'm skeptical they have anything of interest to offer Buffalo then. That is unless they really like Marcus Pettersson for some reason

Sabres need to blow it up and rebuild.
no they don't lmao they need to actually let the young players develop (of who they're keeping) and get veteran players around who they decide their core is. Move the rest and draft capital for said players. It's time to insulate which Adams refuses to do.

They're the youngest team in the league.

The only way I could see this happen is with a three way deal.

1. Pens send picks and prospects to team #2.

2. Team #2 trades a center to Buffalo with term

3. Buffalo trades Cozens to Pens

Typing that out already sounds pretty ridiculous.
