Dustin Brown Retirement?

I do wonder if the 'discussion' Blake alluded to with Brown a month or so before the trade deadline was the club telling Brown they don't plan to resign him after this year and Blake giving Brown the chance to get traded at the deadline to a place of his choosing (if the other side wanted him), doing a solid for one of the best Kings ever.

It seems likely LA will look at adding some more offense in the off-season and they already have some line up combo of the following coming back:

Kopi-Arvidsson-Kempe
Danault-Moore-Iafallo
Kaliyev-Byfield-Kupari
Lizotte-Lemieux

Plus Turcotte, Vilardi, Grundstrom, Andersson, Fagemo, etc in the mix as well. If you set aside legacy, there's not much of an argument to bring him back. I love the guy, I don't think he deserves to get the crap he gets on this forum, but it is likely time to move on because it's hard to see where he fits into the lineup going forward beyond maybe a 4th line role if we end up trading away a bunch ofthe aforementioned youth this off-season.

I have an idea! And we all know about my ideas!

I think he's going to retire. I think he's privately informed a few in the organization and that's why he's been in the lineup more than his play warrants. It's to let him go out on his terms rather than riding the bench as the 12th/13th forward.

They mentioned on the broadcast tonight he said wouldn't have the retirement discussion until he's away from "the emotion of the season." So we probably won't hear word until the summer if he's coming back or not. I doubt he shops around.
