I guess we should have had Harkin's on a PTO, but Verbeek wanted to hand out the 2-year deal to show he was really active this offseason haha.

He hasn't shown much other being a hustling 4rth line / call up type.

Maybe Verbeek wanted a scoring center for San Diego for the next two seasons. Harkins has improved his scoring in the AHL for the past three seasons, but also proved he can't translate that offense to the NHL level.

San Diego needs better and more talent b/c it's been abysmal the past few seasons down there.

He gave him a 2 year contract as we need reliable veteran players in San Diego to help our young players, opposed to being pummeled on the scoreboard on a nightly basis.

It's always an issue at the AHL level that guys are there short term and that makes it harder to build identities, continuity.
