Confirmed with Link: Ducks sign Tim Washe to ELC (1 year, $975k)

Well, well, well... Are the Ducks now a prime spot for NCAA prospects? They have been treated well here, latest addition gets to come right on aswell. This is a pleasant and very welcome suprise.

To secure his services, it seemed the baseline to get him to sign with us. Sure, it's a one-year ELC that ends after this season, but we retain his services as he'll be an RFA. That's the most important part, securing his services for the future as a more polished product. Glad Verbeek didn't send him to San Diego first with a ATO and then sign him to an ELC to play with the Ducks.

Finally a solid college UFA. Insurance if Gaucher isn’t ready and we can’t find a UFA for a reasonable contract. Size, right shot, and 63% faceoff win. Maybe a cheaper version of Nico Sturm.

EP has Washe listed as a left shot.

Long-term, probably. At least for the final two games of the season, he's likely ousting Harkins (who after last night should be done for good at the NHL level for this team, let him go serve as a vet for San Diego in full next year).

TBF to Harkins, he was supposed to be an AHL mainstay. Verbeek didn't plan his NHL roster well enough to keep Harkins down on the farm. That's a Verbeek problem than a Harkins problem.

Washe is probably nothing to write home about offensively, but it's not like he'd be replacing anybody who is good offensively. i've been pretty underwhelmed with Lundy even defensively this year in terms of PK'ing and winning battles - I'd say he is as good as gone.

Don't understand the Lundestrom hate. Of all the players I have an issue with, he's not at the top.
It's guys like this that make me pissed we drafted Gaucher with our 1st. You can find a 3C or 4 C through NHL or college FA.

No need to spend first round picks there.
I agree, which is why I hated the Gaucher pick.

Strange, Hockeydb shows right shot... but I think EP is correct based on the photos. Bummer, thought we could add another right shot since we only have Strome, Terry, and Colangelo up front (assuming we don't resign Leason).

Its not hate, its just reality. Lundy has his moments but he is largely invisible on the ice. Good dude, like him more than I liked Steele, but I dont see Anaheim bringing him back next year.

It’s not hate at all. He’s not even that good defensively now and he’s become easily replaceable

That I agree with. I do hope they bring him back as a 13th forward/AHL depth.

I'd be fine with that. I had no issues with Lundy prior to this year, but IMO he hasn't been great defensively. I have a lot of issues with his play in the O zone too but that's less important for the type of player he is. He does seem like a great guy tho and he hustles.

I don't hate Lundestrom. He just isn't good. He's not effective at anything he's being asked to do on this team, and other than one fluke season where his shooting percentage went through the roof, he hasn't provided anything of value.

I don't really care that he's home-grown or sparsely paid - to me, he's emblematic of the futility of this organization since 2018. For all their drafting success, they can't seem to figure out how to draft forwards in the bottom half of the first round (since Rakell). They can't develop forwards. They can't utilize bottom six forwards correctly. And thus a first round pick ends up being a glorified speed skater.

I have nothing against Lundestrom as a human being. I'm sure he's a swell guy. But he's been a bad hockey player for this team, even as a 4th line defensive center. I hope he moves on and finds a place where he can carve out a career, a la Sam Steel. But I'm not interested in seeing him don a Ducks jersey again.

IMO, one of the most glaring problems with the current Ducks roster is the lack of intimidating physical size. Guys like Carlsson, McTavish, and Gauthier have size but don't scare anyone physically. Same with most of the D. I understand why Verbeek is drafting guys like Gaucher and Myatovic and signing guys like Washe. They are desperately needed. I just hope they progress better than they have so far. Many times it takes until 24 or 25 before these types of players are ready and by that time they've been traded already. I hope all these guys come through because this team needs to be more physically intimidating in order to take the next step. Watching the upcoming playoffs will remind us all of how far the Ducks are from being a SC competitive team.

I hope Konner Smith is the next guy the Ducks sign.
