Wow, I love the creativity! Awesome price for frank, glad we are retaining goal scoring talent.

I know MLB is making this contract structure popular, is it the first of its kind in the NHL?

i've given Verbeek crap a lot, but props to him for this deal. hope we can do more of this to help attract FAs or to help keep our guys from wanting to go to bigger markets

Yeah, a limited term at $4.5 for Frank would have been a sweetheart deal, and since the rest of the money isn't ours/impacting our cap, this is more than fine.

Going to be interesting to see at what point the league steps in with these deferred payment deals, if somebody gets a little too bold before the next CBA comes up, but I don't think this will be it.

Wow thats a great deal. He gets his $18m with less of a tax hit and we get only a $4.57m cap hit for 3 years
