1. Matt Duchene to Winnipeg for Laurent Brossoit + 2019 1st round pick + 2020 2nd round pick (becomes a 2020 1st round pick if Duchene re-signs with Winnipeg or if the Jets appear in the cup finals) + Mathieu Perreault (full cap - 4.125Mx3)

Connor - Scheifele - Wheeler
Ehlers - Duchene - Laine
Vesalainen - Little - Roslovic
Lemieux - Lowry - Tanev

Morrissey - Trouba
Chariot - Byfuglien
Kulikov - Myers

Hellebuyck
Comrie

The Jets get the best center to hit the TD market in quite a while to complement their impressive set of wingers and complete their forward core. They become a formidable cup contender with the addition of Duchene.
Ottawa gets a goaltender that has posted solid numbers at every level he’s played and has shown this year that he just might be ready to become an NHL starter. While having lost a step, Perreault can still be a decent top 9 player, though definitely overpaid at this stage. The draft picks are self-explanatory.

2. Mark Stone to Calgary for Rasmus Andersson + 2019 1st round pick + 2020 1st round pick + James Neal (full cap - 5.75Mx5)

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Stone
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik
Czarnik - Ryan - Hathaway

Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Hamonic
Valimaki/Kylington - Stone

Rittich
Smith

The Flames get rid of Neal’s massive contract while acquiring one of the league’s best two-way winger.
Ottawa gets a very good young defenseman with top 4 upside and a pair of late firsts for Stone + Neal’s putrid contract.

3. Ryan Dzingel (1.8Mx1) + JG Pageau (50% salary retained - 1.55Mx2) to Edmonton for 2019 1st round pick + 2020 2nd round pick + Ryan Spooner (Full cap - 3.1Mx2)

Dzingel - McDavid - Draisaitl
Khaira - RNH - Yamamoto
Chiasson - Pageau - Puljujarvi
Lucic - Brodziak - Kassian

Klefbom - Larsson
Nurse - Russell
Jones - Bouchard

Koskinen
Talbot

Edmonton gets some much needed affordable quality up front to complement their high end talent.
Ottawa gets draft picks, retains on Pageau and takes on Spooner’s contract to make the cap work for Edmonton.

4. Cody Ceci to Minnesota for Charlie Coyle

Greenway - Staal - Kunin
Zucker - Koivu - Granlund
Parise - Rask - Aberg
Foligno - Eriksson EK - Brown

Suter - Spurgeon
Brodin - Dumba*
Seeler - Ceci

Dubnyk
Stalock

1 for 1 hockey deal. Change of scenery for two similarly inconsistent and maligned players. Ceci’s a RFA at the end of the season while Coyle has another year on his deal before becoming a UFA. Ceci replaces Dumba while the latter’s injured, provides an upgrade on Pateryn and perhaps trives alongside a steady Jonas Brodin. Coyle gets the chance to play top minutes and be an important piece up front for a rebuilding team.

OTTAWA

Neal - Tierney - Ryan
Perreault - Chlapik - Batherson

BELLEVILLE

Balcers - Brown - Sturtz
Formenton - Norris - Rodewald
Klimchuk - Spooner - Luchuk
Tambellini - Kelly - Lindberg

Englund

Getting rid of the Neal contract is enticing, but I’m still not sure we’d have enough cap to resign Stone with Tkachuk due to be signed. For that reason Calgary can’t afford to pay that price for a rental. Andersson is our only quality RHD prospect right now, we have more depth on the left side

You lost the Flames fans at Andersson, forget about the 2nd 1st. Stone is great but you’re talking about a rental, not Chabot!

I don't see Jets giving up their better goalie (this year) and Perreault who could be used in any line on Jets successfully. Perreault is underrated even among Jets fans, he actually makes everyone around him better but gets used in 3rd or 4th line roles.

With added picks, no way.

These are nowhere near as bad as fans of other teams will claim. That being said, they are unrealistic from a Senators standpoint because of the money coming back. Melnyk isn't going to take on Neal's deal, probably wouldn't consider taking on Perreault's deal and likely wouldn't accept retention on Pageau if we're taking Spooner back.

Points for effort, but the only one grounded in realism is the Jets deal. Maybe the Oilers deal would have made sense before they canned Chiarelli, but I don't think those pieces are available anymore. I also don't think Ceci for Coyle is insane, based on the fact Ceci has higher value to GM's around the league than the fans on this site, that being said I don't blame Wild fans for cringing at that one.

I like the stone trade, but I wouldn't give up andersson. Swap him with kylington, and I think it's pretty good. Maybe make the 2020 pick condition, but otherwise it's a pretty fair deal.

Why the hell would the flames trade their best young defender and two firsts for a ufa? We couldnt even afford to sign him long term even after removing Neal, who still hasn't been a liability despite not scoring.

Somewhere on Uranus
why is Edmonton trading their 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick for a pending UFA...?

because people have decided that for one year of spooner the oilers will have to give up a first and a 2nd--used be just for Lucic and his 5 years--it is now spooner and one year.

Bad deal for the oilers--if the Oilers are given up and 1st and 2nd--it is Lucic getting moved

You realize Dzingel and Pageau are going to the Oilers in this scenario right? I don't think Edmonton is in a position to move their top picks at this stage, so I'm not defending the offer, but it's not like the offer was a 1st and a 2nd just to take Spooner off their hands.

I would gun to make it Comrie instead of LB. He has been a huge part of our success. Wpg would also need a goalie coming back..

TBH, not a bad proposal.

You would need a goalie back if you moved Comrie too? Or just Broissoit?

I'm pretty sure the Sens wouldn't have an issue tossing Nilsson your way regardless. He's actually played suprisingly well since being traded, but he's a UFA and may not be in the teams long-term plans. Condon/Anderson should also be avilable, but they come with term, so that seems unlikely.

From a Flames perspective that would be tempting IF Stone was signed. I just don't think it'd really work in a salary cap world though. Andersson is also our only young RHD. I'd sooner deal any of our young LHD than him.

Bringing in Ceci to play on our 3rd pair is insane. And giving up a RHS forward for that makes it worse.

No from Winnipeg. We can't afford to give up that much for a rental and leave ourselves without a backup goalie with NHL experience. Plus losing Perreault to boot.

Contending teams don't give up roster players for rentals at the TDL as the idea is to add to your depth not take away from it. Here we give up two roster players, plus high picks and end up with one roster player.

No thanks.

Wait: two roster players, plus a 1st and a 2nd, for a rental player? That frankly makes no sense. Jets are going to need Brossoit and Perreault for a playoff run. And running through lists of past big TDL deals they hardly ever involve roster players coming the other way: it's invariably a combination of picks and prospects.

Take a look at the Jets prospects list and let us know if there's anyone you might want, but as structured, no.
