Meh, either it works or they're hitting rebuild mode anyway. Not that much to lose.
Pens didnt really even need a GM if failure/bad moves doesnt even matter.

Granlund got run out of Pittsburgh because fans were expecting a big move for a last run and Hextall disappointed them by getting him. Then Sullivan does what he does and used him horribly.I'd also like to point out that Granlund had a bad stretch while being utilized completely wrong by Sullivan.
Who would have thought that a small offensive playmaker would look out of place when utilized as though he's a gritty defensive-minded shutdown player? Everyone except Mike "Dumbass" Sullivan, apparently.
They didn't give up anything of much value besides a couple of draft picks in that trade. Rather got rid of quite a few undesirables, it's not like they're contenders with Rutta and Petry instead of Karlsson.Pens didnt really even need a GM if failure/bad moves doesnt even matter.
Petry/Rutta are easy to get rid of. And if you really want to tank, its easier to do it without Karlsson; which is why SJ was smart to get rid of him. What has Karlsson contributed other than get the Pens to no-man's land last year (no top pick, no playoffs?)They didn't give up anything of much value besides a couple of draft picks in that trade. Spending 10 million on Karlsson was a substantial mistake. With his level of play he's not even worth half of that. It isn't 2013 it's 2024.
"Yea so basically... just take this absolute dogshit value for your Hall of Fame top 40 all time player, franchise legend, Hart/Art Ross/Conn Smythe winning center"
Highly unlikely Malkin or Letang are available. And get over the dream of Sid moving. Most Pens fans and Sid included do not want him in another uniform. So are they saying Malkin is available?
And I respect how much of a creature of habit Crosby is, but goddammit, just move for like 2 years. It’s fun, you’d get the Pens some picks- just seems a rough way to close out a career. Even if he’s good for another 5 years, they’re goin nowhere.
Finally we'll be able to see what Dubas can really do

Don’t want a want a quick retool. Restock the prospect pool and get younger faster bottom 6 players.Don’t think Dubas has the wizard in him to do a quick retool. This franchise badly needs to start preparing for life without Crosby as it gonna be dark for them.
Most owners push for a retool, even though in the vast majority of cases (including this one) a proper rebuild is in order.Don’t think Dubas has the wizard in him to do a quick retool. This franchise badly needs to start preparing for life without Crosby as it gonna be dark for them.
You know I thought about this today. I wonder if it was purposeful so if he (unlikely) gets traded Pittsburg can retain 50% and he still gets paid appropriately. Harder for playoff teams to offer that.I bet Crosby regrets reupping in Pittsburgh this past summer. I had a feeling he only did it to remain loyal to the fans. Should have asked for a trade to Colorado to play with his bestie MacKinnon and reunite the Cole Harbour buddies to go for another cup.

Why leave, he's won 3 cups. Its a better look for his legacy (legace? Jk) IMO to be only associated with one team at this point. If hes was younger, maybe not but hes 38 this year.I would think the main reason sid wants to remain in Pittsburgh is personal reasons tbh. He has a girlfriend, who likely doesn’t want to move. Sid has set roots, made friends, knows the Pittsburgh area, where to shop, where to eat, you think he wants to go to a new city and relearn the area, hell no.
The problem is, neither team does the trade. The Penguins need futures and the Bruins will not trade a guy a quarter into the season for a player who'll retire in a couple of years. It was not even a contract that should have been even offered. Does not matter when you can get out of , just get out of it. This has to do with your smart ass remark about video games, so weak. This contract has hurt their cap space.
