Pre-Game Talk: Dropping like flies, whose the biggest surprise? (guaranteed to please Pole)

Who are the 3 biggest surprises in these playoffs

What surprises you the most, the love or the hate?

Need a win and for DeBoer to stop sending out his headhunters. He could take out another player or two. There's a chance he's already sealed our fate.

Benn could have ended Klingberg's season jamming his stick in his skates sending Klingberg into the boards during game 4. No one is talking about this incident at all. That was too close, and a 5 out of 5 on the scumbag move scale.

Huge game 4 tomorrow in Dallas. Hope the boys are ready, no games ever swing series quite as hard as game 4, we'll have to be sharp.

Yes Stu, game 4.

Adversity has arrived....again. However the Oilers appear to be immune to adversity coming back in numerous games and down 2-0 to LA. No Ekholm. The piss poor start of Smilin' Stu. Injury to Picard who was on a 6-0 heater. Special teams misfiring spectacularly. Connor Brown going down. Now its a season ending injury to Zach Hyman.

But someone always seems to step it up and there have been plenty of happy surprises this playoffs so far.

Who are your 3 top surprise players?

Lets go Oilers, finish off these MF tomorrow night!
Klingberg, Walman, Stetcher
Stetcher is a perfect pairing for Nurse.
Klingberg and Walman together is like Cagney & Lacey, Hall & Oates, Willie & Waylon, Carson & McMahon.
One thing I notice about our D is they can all pass
Walman is signed for 1 more year at 3.4. Klingberg is a UFA. I would like to have both of them back. I never wanna go thru that dark decade of that terrible defence we had. It was the worst.
Nuge and Hyman are/were playing Conn Smythe like

Been an Oilers fan since 79-80 but this is one of the teams I have most love for, So many stories. Man I wanna win this cup this year. Shut up all the haters with a big STFU. When Conner picks up cup, I know he would hand it off to Drai first. Drai to Nuge. I sure hope they get Hyman it pretty quick. U gotta figure he is heartbroken. He is a HUGE part of this team

You can only imagine how badly a fan like myself born in the mid 90s wants to see the Oilers raise the cup. I didn't take last year's loss in 7 against Florida too bad.

I'll be absolutely devastated if we aren't able to win it all this year though because I really think we can. There might never be a greater opportunity.

Watch Noah Philp draw in ahead of J Skinner.

Possible, especially if they think Brown is back in the next game or two and they want his role specifically replaced. But I think they'll go Skinner, as putting him in lets you keep the other 3 lines intact for now,

Plus I think he fits well with Kane and RNH. So does RV, but if they have McDrai together, I think they like having his play driving in the bottom 6 where he has chemistry Podz and Janmark.

So u were in your teens in 2006 . I worked in Edmonton during that cup run and went to GM 3 SCF. It was magical and I had the best time of my life in that cup run. It was a massive party. I had to return home to NS for birth of my daughter. Seen GM 7 in my home in NS. Loss killed me
In the 80's, we had a dynasty. You never thought the good times would end. I wish we had stable ownership back then because we would have won 7-8 cups in a row. 1990 was a great cup win. It was unexpected.
Some of the older fellas on here, local fellas, could probably add to my blog on the 80's dynasty. We thought it would never end. Some nice to watch. But in life, all good things must come to an end.
Keep the faith, we can win it this year. We are a different team then last year. Next man up. I have some young Oilers fans in these parts that havent seen a cup yet. They are dying for one. One graduated with my daughter last year. GM 7 was played at their grad party. When Oilers lost, it destroyed him. He wouldnt come outta his tent at party, I said , Keep the faith, we will be back

I remember watching a 3rd period comeback where we were down 4-1 and playing like crap but everyone in the building knew the Oilers would come back and we won 7-4. I distinctly remember telling my buddy that we were going to pay for this (having such immense talent on one team) somehow someway - and boy did we ever pay for it. 90’s, Peter Puck, losing to the Canes in 06, DoD, Chiarelli. Please dear hockey Gods we have suffered long enough and now you’ve taken away Hyman and gifted the Panthers a free pass to the Final via the hapless Hurricanes. We’ve paid our price. Let us have this year.

I was born in 1994 and was 11 when 06 happened so not quite in my teens. That run made me a hard-core fan and I never really cared for hockey before that. I swear the city was even crazier back then than it is now. Maybe that team got more love for being underdogs. That whole 06 run felt like a cultural experience for me. I had never experienced anything like it before. The 80s really must of been something to behold. It's awesome that you older fans got to witness all of that. I can't possibly imagine living to see 5 cup championships nevermind 1!

I hope you and the younger fans who participate here, experience what some of us have experienced 5 times in our lives with some of the greatest assembled teams ever.

It’s euphoric and makes memories that stay with you forever.

Until then, enjoy the ride to get there.🤞

This old man is greedy. I would like to see 8 or more cups in my time!!!

Skinner makes the most sense to me unless they go 11-7. He can slide in with Nuge and McDavid without disturbing the rest of the lines. That line loses a puck hound but gains a shooter. If you bringing in a guy like Philp he really only fits as a bottom 6 center. I guess you could move Perry up with Nuge and McDavid but he is pretty slow and my struggle playing all those minutes.

If Brown was back he could slot in in Hymans place.
