Jason Gregor is absolutely correct here. Having both Brown and Hyman out tomorrow is a huge hit to our depth. It's not a coincidence that we didn't score a single even strength goal yesterday without them. Skinner needs to be in the lineup to inject some offensive talent.

You basically have to insert Jeff Skinner into the line up me thinks. The problem is he hasn't played in ages so I don't know how effective he will be as it has been 5 weeks already. lol

Thinking about it earlier I realized that since that goal with .4 seconds on the clock to lose vs. Vegas, Edmonton has only allowed 3 goals in total at 5 on 5 in 18+ periods. 367 minutes. That's less than half a goal per game at 5 on 5.

Using just actual 5 on 5 minutes it's still an amazing 0.6 GA/60. Though Florida's on a similar run of 0.96 GA/60 over the same time line despite 2 additional gams.
Even better since that game the have only allowed a total of 8 goals period.

Thinking back on how long ago that was, I was in grade 1 at the time, and we still used desks with the circular cutouts that stored the inkwells that you used for writing with the fountain pens. Crazy that it's been that long.
Yup. The principals still had thick leather straps in their desks and would use them too. (So I was told…). ;)

I think they tried Skinner with McDavid and Brown near the end of the season and it was a solid line. Probably too ballsy to try that out in the finals though..

Skinner attacks the net, he’s not physical but he scores goal in that area and that’s where everything is scored in the playoffs. He’s sat for a few weeks but he’s gonna be fresh as a daisy, I bet if anything his skating stands out in a good way.

If Skinner Jr cant get into the lineup with Brown and Hyman out, he’s probably never going to wear an Oiler jersey again.

I'll put it another way. I don't think that those two are hurting the team as much as Suter did in last year's series or even how Petrovic hurt them last year in the way they had to shelter him much more than they have this year.
Honestly those guys sort of tend to play regular minutes, Petrovic is not an NHL regular, Dallas' usage is definitely a problem.

What scares me all of a sudden is realizing that game 6 would be a Saturday night game and worth a lot of money. A game that won't take place if the Oilers close out in Game 5 in Dallas.

Dallas have been dead in the water for most of the series. If they suddenly resurrect from the grave and the Oilers play like shit I'd wonder if something is going on.

For sure NHL don't want both these series ending early. Wonder if Carolina get 5PP's in the third period tonight..
