Drew Miller

We HAVE to keep Nyquist, we HAVE to have a spot for Helm when he comes back, and we HAVE to give Tatar a chance.

Franzen - Dats - Goose
Brunner - Z - Flip
Tatar - Helm - Eaves
Miller - Andersson - Tootoo

Like him or not, Tootoo brings more energy than half of our team. He's a good fourth liner.

Where's Abby?

Oops! Guess I read over my own list wrong. lol "Why is there an empty space..." I guess I was just making a point that I'd take him over Sammy, Cleary, or Bert at this point, even though Bert is GREAT a protecting the puck.

Put Abby in for Tootoo, then. Abby brings the same kind of game (not quite the speed, but he's got a small scoring touch).

The 'Marathon Man' is capable of long shifts and is fantastic on the penalty kill. He goes hard for 60 minutes, he blocks shots, transitions well ,and at 6'2" he's a decent sized body. Although he's not über skilled offensively he crashes the net well and is not afraid to shoot the puck. He should fit in well in the Eastern Confrence. He should get signed over Sammy and Cleary without a doubt. And who doesn't love saying"It's Miller Time!"

He's been my favorite 4th liner here for a while. Love his game as a bottom liner.

anyone have the goal where i think rafalski made a long pass and miller had a great chip shot goal while diving?

Franzen - Dats - X
Brunner - Z - X
Tatar - Flip - Goose
Miller - Andersson - Eaves

samuelsson & bert stay at the ltir until the end of their contracts.
Abdelkader,Tootoo waived, traded or chased out of town somehow.
cleary as FA to the rangers. they collect useless player.

dunno wether helm comes back or not.
even with eaves and miller signed that leaves us with two open spots for winger. i would really like to see some talented player instead of defensive brick layer. otherwise they can play for their results out of plublic.

Lol, Abdelkader is not going to be waived or traded out of town. Like it or not, he's a Wings lifer.

I'm willing to bet next season begins with Abdelkader playing on the 1st line with Dats and Z.

thx god nobody can force me to spend dollars on tickets for that.
was just a way to keep miller & eaves and improve the team.

Here's a roster. It has 15 forwards instead of 14, and the normal 7D and 2G. It's part of what I think might happen going forward given Flip's playoff.

I like Tootoo, and think he's useful, but he didn't play much in the regular season and the Wings have been killing it without him. I can't see a need to keep him around for that kind of money. Miller likely could be re-signed, probably for something like Abdelkader's or Tootoo's deal. Hopefully Tootoo could be dealt for a pick, and then Samuelsson/Bertuzzi bought out. That would end up with the Wings having a net gain of about $5m in cap space, and they would have a free forward spot to use their almost $6m on. That could lead to:

I kind of like this roster.

Drew Miller has had a nice stint considering we got the guy for nothing off the trash heap.

But let's not act like he is irrepelacable. There's guy like him available every year you can get if you want to. We also have some young guys coming up that could play a similar role while maybe providing some other things better than Miller.

I'm fine if they decide to keep Miller, but if he goes it's complain about. He's dime a dozen.

Abdelkader is better than Tootoo in just about every way.

If we had room, I'd resign him in a heartbeat. I think it's between him and Tootoo. Tootoo is still signed though, so Miller probably leaves. I honestly wish we could keep him, but even if we dumped Tootoo off somewhere and resigned him, there'd be little playing time for him.

The problem with projecting next year's lineup is Calle Jarnkrok. I know people don't think he will, but it's still a possibility he makes it out of camp. Management is very high on him. If he does, that's one less roster spot. He's a serious wildcard to consider.

No. He will go through Griffins plan, but he will see games up when injuries will hit.

Only prospect that will be in the team year before his waiver eligibility is gone, will be Tomas Tatar.

I wouldn't put it at a certainty that Jarnkrok goes the AHL route. There's a spot on this roster for him to win in the fall. That's certain. The only UFA that's likely to be resigned is Brunner, which leaves a free spot open. If Holland signs a FA forward beyond Brunner, then Jarnkrok will definitely be heading to the A. If he doesn't, that definitely signals he's getting a shot.

Assuming Nyquist and Andy are re-signed that gives us 12 guys under contract going into next season, and that's if we only re-sign 1 out of 4 of our UFA's (I'll bet that's not the case). It's not even a guarantee Tatar has a spot, I can't see both Tatar and Jarnkrok being on the Wings next year. Not with the reluctancy to give kids IT, no way.

I like him but wonder how strong Horton plays w/o a Lucic at his back. Wings don't have that type of player.

I think Brun & Miller if signed will get more than you have listed but not a lot more.

You're letting Flip go too

Horton had his best years in Florida, and he had just about nobody back then.

As for Brunner and Miller, there's $6m left under the cap. No problem.

Filppula has reached the functional peak of his development. He's unlikely to be worth the cost. I'd rather have a guy like Horton.
