Can't say either team would be eager for this deal.

Drew is pretty adamant about staying in LA and I doubt the Kings are eager to move him as he is literally the only veteran defenseman on his game as they benefit from the last bit of hockey Edler and Maatta have to give. He is the only core member from their cup wins that is firing on all cylinders and the likely captain should Kopitar retire or be moved. This is the first injury-laden season he's really had and LA is no longer rebuilding and are looking to start competing with what they have.

Montreal isn't in a position to compete right now and utilize Drew's last few seasons. The price would be high, very high if there is retention, and I don't see the motivation for the Habs to pay and take on Drew's contract. If they were ready to make a push within this season or two ala Toronto or something, I could see it; otherwise, they would be better off trying to deal those assets for a younger defenseman that could grow with the younger players and future prospects.

Yeah I don’t know why Montreal would have any interest in him.

We’re trying to rebuild.
They are building a senior home in Montreal and they are going to have a team Chara and Brent Burns are eligible and Marty St Louis is wondering what the hell did I get myself into.........

Awesome post.

My big question is...

Who is going to lead the Canadiens on Defense?

Letang has obviously been thrown around the water cooler more than once with his ties to Montreal, Hughes, and being a UFA.
