I love that the Sens have a near 70 point winger, who is in/entering his prime, and makes less than $5M... and yet some wish to trade him because he had a pretty disappointing first playoffs.

Meanwhile they ALSO feel like they need to upgrade on Claude Giroux at 1RW, David Perron at 2LW, and one or both of Artem Zub at 1RD and Nick Jensen at 2RD...

If we traded Batherson it would need to be for a direct replacement. Alex Tuch comes to mind.

Could see something like Batherson to Van for 15OA or to NYI for 12OA (OTT adds a sweetener) and then OTT uses the cap space to try and sign Ehlers or Bennett.

I don’t know if there’s any contracts you guys might be looking to move out and maybe the deal could be expanded. Maybe something like Lafreniere+Miller for Batherson+Chabot? If not maybe a guy like Amadio could be sent back to the Rangers to make the cap work. As for the expanded deal I know the Rangers would have to add most likely. I’ve always been a fan of Batherson and could see him being a great fit with Panarin.

This is terrible. Laf outscored Bath minus the ridiculous PP difference. In fact Bath had almost twice as many PP points this year as Laf has had in his entire career. Laf in Ottawa easily outscores Bath in NY. Big fan of Laf but Rangers arent adding to Laf to get him.

Does Ottawa have any real reason to trade Batherson? Seems like a player that fills an important role on a good contract. Teams try to keep those players not move them.

I'd trade Batherson for an upgrade or if some GM is insane enough to trade a blue chip prospect for him.

I get that but every player in the league is available for an upgrade if one exists. A team that has a better player also on a good contract won’t make that trade. Batherson is an excellent player and in the abstract has good value but players like him don’t move because the players you want to trade him for are similarly only available for an upgrade.
