I like Bath but I would be ok with hockey trade that nets us a similar value player who brings more of what we need.

I feel he is going to go the Zibanejad route. I don't think he is figuring it out here.

I don't think Zibanejad's career doesn't really have much to do with his scenery. He put up the same numbers in New York for the first two seasons. No reason why he couldn't put it all together in Ottawa if we kept him.

With that being said I don't mind shopping him if the price is right. And by that, I don't mean for a player 5 years older than him who puts up the same numbers (like with Zib and Brassard).

Agree to disagree. He is not the same player and I feel that some guys need a shakeup of a trade to understamd that your team doesn't want you anymore and won't put up with your inconsistent shit anymore.

Batherson last night was great. Which guy is showing up Saturday

He’s so good when he’s using his size to protect the puck. I think eventually he will find more consistency. Him and Perron were fun to watch together last night.
Using his size is very important, but to me speed is the 1st indicator he is playing well.

When he is moving his feet, he looks great. When he is coasting and looking to dangle or only dish the puck, is when the holes in his game appear.

Perron has been a catalyst for that line, and there is nothing to say Perron isn't even up to full speed yet after the year he has had. I think they can and should be a consistent threat.

I had completely lost confidence in Perron, now I’m on the fence if he has what it takes to be an impact player in the playoffs. Just like Batherson, I’ll be cautiously optimistic his recent play will continue. Those two guys contributing could honestly be the difference between finishing 7th/8th vs 9th/10th.

If everyone is at their A game we have a pretty solid list of two way power forwards relative to most teams. Brady, Batherson, Perron is a good mix for playoff hockey.

Someone mentioned it before but anything think Drake going through some mental stuff?

His mind is just not there at all. Feels like he is playing with something weighing his mind down. Just doesn't make sense.

Does have 10 points in 13 games, though, but has felt like a nonfactor in almost every game. Especially on the PP which is his bread and butter.

Or is it like Tkachuk midseason where he still trying to figure out good defense and timely offense? Maybe that's it, the ultra focus on defense-first approach whenever he gets on the ice?

I think he just is what he is. Inconsistent big soft winger

if he is soft in the playoffs wouldn't be surprised if he is the next guy out

Yea, but it doesn't excuse his terrible decision making on the PP too. Bobbling random pucks with minimal pressure.

There was a play also where Sanderson gave him the puck wide open and he just selected a terrible shot. He has done that numerous times, a play you'd expect Highmore to make, not him.

I think he’s out regardless.

I have a feeling Staios will try and go grab another guy who “fits” our playing style a bit better.

I've never understood the soft narrative. Everything else yes, but soft? Like the same kind of soft as Petersson or Marner? I just don't see it.

Batherson isn't out until his contract is up. His contract is too good of a bargain and he massively outproduces it.

If you can keep him for a similar price tag he's not a bad player to have.
