Nobody has responded to coaching from JM and TG more than Batherson. Really nice to see.

He's also finally healthy, would like to see him use his size & hot a lot more & shoot more, he has a great shot. Ott could use another Batherson to replace Giroux when he hangs them up.

Blake Montgomery is following a similar path. If Batherson is a home run I think Montgomery will at least be a ground rule double.

Yes, he has been a big surprise this yr in London, I saw him at development camp & didn't really do much but he was okay. Hopefully that carries on & he joins Belleville next season & continues his good play with them, we could use another big scoring LW.

Tankathon has Ott drafting Jake O'Brien C/RW from the Brantford Bulldogs which was Andlauer's team. He could turn into another Batherson, although underweight he should be able to put on 25 lbs of muscle over the next few yrs & maybe even grow a little. He is an excellent playmaker & puck distributor, he had 51 assists & 64 pts last yr in 61 games as a 16 yr old & this yr has 22 goals, 33 assists for 55 pts in 42 games as a 17 yr old so far. He would make for a great Giroux replacement from this draft.

I’d expect this to be a character with skill draft. I trust the management team knows what’s lacking in thee system.

We're not drafting anyone in the 1st round this year. We'll have the 32nd overall pick, and the team will give it up because of the Vegas thing.

1 goal in his last 16 games. 7 total points in 16 games. Teams playing well but he’s been quiet recently.

Yup, been pretty invisible for a while now, AND I was not all too impressed by his game against BOS. Almost lost that one for us single-handedly.

Glad he showed up against NJD when it counts!

I doubt that, why give it up when they can wait another yr & see if something changes. Chances are they will draft in the teens, next yr it could be higher why would you not go with the better pick?

He responded well to all his coaches.. 1 told him to go out there and do what ever he wanted.. he responded... the other two tightened up the reigns and he responded... very coachable player.

As much as I love his game, he needs to get going offensively. Along with Brady and Stu, he's our best play-driving forward. If he gets going, his linemates will benefit and the opposition is screwed. Hopefully he takes advantage of a dogshit Rags team on Tuesday

Not just him.

However, they have been playing extremely well defensively. Batherson included. I'll take it as they are sorting themselves out.

I truly believe it's also line combinations. Also more depth needed.
When he throws his weight around, he's a force.

Needs to shoot a bit more.

He doesn't have the body type or skillset to do it often, though. He is more finesse as the skilled winger on his line. He should just continue to focus at being good defensively. If he becomes 2 way savvy, then physical game isn't even needed for him to have a long and effective career.

What's his deal exactly? In his last 19 games, he's only got 3 goals and 5 assists while looking quite pedestrian out there for the most part

With his frame, size and talent, he should be crushing it, could really use some of that now on a more consistent basis

Batherson has to be the most hot and cold player on this team. When he's on, he looks dominant, he's physical, entering the zone with ease, great shot, driving the net himself, and finding guys going to the net to create chances. When he's off, he's bobbling the puck, sticking to the perimeter, and just sort of there.

Hopefully the break give him some time to reset and come back fresh, maybe he's nursing something or just out of gas... idk, I haven't seen anything to suggest he's playing hurt but whatever it is he needs to get back on track.

Yeah I think he’s a top 6 F but he needs to be like your 6th best option. Right now he slots in as our 3rd or 4th.

I think that'd be a bit greedy

Batherson has the 18th best PPG among RWs in the league since 2021-22 (Giroux is 15th) and 35th among Wingers (not exact as NHL.com screws up on positions for certain players)

He's definitely 3rd right now but actually he has one more point than Tkachuk this season. And that might be the problem, Tkachuk might be an impact player when he's on (but not at all in 2025 so far) but he's not a premium offensive forward like those elite teams have. We have Stutzle and 2 very good 1st liners. I think we'd need Stutzle, another premium offensive talent and then a very good 1st line forward.

Then very good 2nd and 3rd line talent but that's another story as we're missing some in there too (Norris, Giroux, Pinto, Greig, ??????, ??????)

Summary, we need to upgrade Tkachuk or Batherson, we need to add a very good 2nd line forward and a very good 3rd line forward. Perron and Amadio were chosen for that but while they're "fine", they're just not good enough to help this team rise higher, same for one of Tkachuk or Batherson

The problem is how the hell we do all that?

He really needs to heat up. Like yeah he's still a good value on his deal, but he's capable of being a PPG scorer and we need him closer to that than what he's been the last 10-15 games
