The value going back to Edmonton would have to be ridiculous for the Oilers to consider this as a base. They’re currently paying 8.5m for the 2nd best scorer in the league and he’s a center for a winger that is rumored to make 8m on his next contract. Not going to work on that fact alone.

Nah,

Plus Tkachuk will make more than Draisaitl it looks like. Although, in 4 years we have to re-sign him and that might be tricky

I love the pieces being offered back but for a true elite C like Draisaitl, on a great contract, its almost impossible to offer the type of deal it would take to move him.
That's okay. It's an overpay. Keep him.

It's true. The difference between Drai and Tkachuk isn't big enough to merit Norris and a 1st as an add. And I know how good he is.
Are you kidding? You’d have to offer Stutzle, Tkatchuk, Norris, 1st 2022 & 2023 to even get the Oil to think. You don’t just get a 110 pt in 71 gm C for a “fair trade”. You over pay by A LOT

Something about your profile makes me question your objectivity about this deal...

Drai would be the most talented player in Sens franchise history. Don't start with me about Healtey putting up big numbers in 05-06 when there were 20 powerplays a game.
Sure but the other 2 pieces

Oilers are in win now mode. Brady and Norris will cost more than Drasaitl and combined may still produce less.

Brady himself might cost as much as Draisaitl despite his career high being 45 points.

Also Ottawa wont be contending for a while so keeping the younger pieces and high draft pick seems smarter from their side and would work with their window

Apparently you don’t.

Tkachuk hasn’t yet hit 50pts and his best pace is like 56pts.

Draisaitl is the second best offensive forward in the NHL, with already a Hart and Art Ross, three 100+pt paced seasons, and 50+G. All while being on a sweetheart of a contract.

The difference in them is massive

Draisaitl out produced both players combined last year. Let's not act like doing this deal wouldn't make that Ottawa 1st come later then it would without said deal.

Stutzle - Draisaitl - Batherson line would be too good for the pick to be a lotto pick.

Keep your guys and keep developing, Ottawa's future is bright. Oil don't do this, we are closer to a win now club. Makes no sense.

That's why I never propose deals like this. People overvalue the truly elite players. They never go for as much as fans expect, and people have a hard time evaluating quantity for quality deals.

Thats because there is no deal that is realistic. Drai doesn't have a trade value. If asked its likely 6-7 solid pieces, 3 if them blue chip/ solid 1st line NHLers and some picks. Would someone pay that? No, they would be stupid to lol

25 yr old Hart winners with 4 years on a value contract don't get moved. Trade us your best player for a quantity deal if that's such a great idea. We'd even overpay in value (quantity wise).

The Bolded is absolutely hilarious.

Not even close. Think more like Tkachuk, Chabot (with some retention for cap purposes), Sanderson, and your 1st to get the discussion going. When’s the last time an established top 2 player in the league got trade in their prime? Gretzky?
