The Oilers aren't going to hardball McDavid. We're going to give him whatever he asks for and thank him for staying.
An extra $2 million on the cap won't hurt this franchise more than losing Connor freaking McDavid will. Remember what it was like in the before times?

Now we are in 2025. Mcdavid is 28 and he and the team are playing like garbage. Right now what we have is a serious problem. It's not recency bias, it's been an ongoing issue.
He just had one of the best playoff performances in history last summer. It’s a recency bias for sure.
Chances of Oilers finishing at top of Pacific is much higher than them missing the playoffs.
