Post-Game Talk: Draisaitl is the only hockey player we have right now

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

How many fly bys on the screen. Our D must take more clean shots at the goalie than any team in the NHL.

How is this not being addressed especially after the last 2 losses. All they did was screen us to wins

Yea the forwards are terrible at getting to the net and screening, tipping, or getting rebounds. All the point shots are clearly a system thing, dunno what they're telling the forwards to do.

Which is sad because Perry and Hyman are (used to be?) two of the best in the game at getting to net and creating scoring chances.

We have a system?

It simply becomes harder to stand in front of the net as much as these guys have done when you're constantly getting punished for doing it. Other teams also simply collapsing low and making egress harder in first place. they still get there a lot and not getting any luck there when they do.

I don't think Hyman has been 100% this season and he's getting wrecked out there. had his nose and mouth mangled multiple times. Been belted so many times. The punishment Hyman has had this season is the kind of stuff that ended Craig Simpsons career. Its NHL correction occurring that if you score 50 its going to be hell to play in subsequent seasons. He's not getting open looks or being left alone now. Its all fight, its all hard now.

Drai is playing the best hockey of his career and lapping the field for Hart in my mind. Going to be a travesty if media darling MacK wins it. McDavid's decrease this year mostly seems mental. Not sure what's going on, hope he can pull it together.

Wasn't it a thing of Gretzky-ish beauty when Drai just skated up and ripped that distant slapshot for a goal?

Bouchard hasn't been able to do that this season. (He misses the net or hits legs, repeatedly.)
McDavid had a muffin slapper and doesn't even try.
Nuge hasn't teed-up a slapshot yet in his life.

Draisaitl is the best shooter in the League and I wish he would just SHOOT the puck more often. Slap it, wrist it, whatever. Shoot the biscuit, Leon, since nobody else can do it while beating NHL goalies.

Calvin Pickard is still better than Stuart Skinner.
Yup. Been saying this all season. He had a brutal game against the ducks recently but he also stole the canes game. In general he has been great. Battles hard and his rebound control is quite good.

Pedestrian game. Pedestrian team.

Draisaitl's turn to carry this team on his shoulders. Connor looks bagged without his extra gear tonight and puck bobbles. 21.4% in the face-off dot. The golden goose is getting ground down into mere mortality. Great game by Pickard. Bouchard's game is trending upwards which is huge.

Nugent Hopkins with a brutal mistake to let the New York Cadavers into this game. I normally support the player's utility to help this team across a range of duties but time for an extended tour at 3C. I'd run Henrique at 1W to give McDavid more of a shooting and finishing threat. Lots of bottom six and really line four players on this team that was clearly hollowed out by poor decision making in the summer.

Will hope this team can build some mojo and consistency off this win. I thought the same post Dallas game. But this season seems to be a bit of an existential challenge. Lots of work to be done to elevate into the tier of legitimate Cup contenders.

Missed the game but just saw the highlights. What in hedoublehockeysticks were those lines? Perry and Brown on the Drai line was particularly perplexing, Skinner wasting away on a checking line, Ryan Nothing Happens centering the NHL Nothing Happens Line. Adam Offensive Black Hole Henrique on the top line. Just about all the highlights were Draisaitl creating everything on.his own. Knoblauch continues to be brutal with his line combos.

At least they won but this team is so far from where it needs to be. It's 3am here so I'm.resdy to knock out but I had to make a comment about those lines. Woof

Draisaitl is the f***ing MVP.
Anybody saying otherwise are f***ing morons

Team is the Sharks without him this season. That's how subpar McDavid has been and how utterly horrendous pretty much all the wingers, Dmen and goalies have been. Drai is doing stuff like what LeBron did carrying those god awful Cavs teams of the late 2000s.

Pretty sure Henrique-McDavid-Hyman was the top 6 line to start the game today.

You have your opinion but one can easily argue that Knobloch has been the best coache in the entire league the past 100 or so games. Firing yet another coach would just be stupid.
You're right they did, and that lasted about a period before he went full blender mode.
I'm not looking to fire another coach. I just said he makes some incredibly stupid roster decisions and in game adjustments this year. There's absolutely zero chemistry on this team right now because he doesn't give any opportunity for chemistry to develop.

The Oilers won this game, but they still looked incredibly disjointed, and that's with some of the best puck moving on the backend this roster has ever had. They create such mundane offence recently so its no wonder they can't score.

I get Jagr wibes from Draisaitl these days. When Jagr was in Pittsburgh in the beginning of the 2000’s.
Only diffrence Kovalev, Hrdina, Lang, Straka etc. could score a little bit at least…
