Post-Game Talk: Draisaitl is the only hockey player we have right now

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
The forwards haven’t produced all year though. Maybe a couple are just having bad luck but not all. Think just combination of not enough talent, no line chemistry, ice time, role, etc
Of goal totals alone last season there is absolutely zero reason a team should continue with any of Ryan, Janmark, Brown, or add to the inept with Podkolzin. These were all terrible decisions. None of these guys have cashed for years and somehow the org thought this is fine. Thats 1/3 of a forward lineup doing jacksquat every night and then wondering why you don't have scoring.

They add to this injured Arviddson and J Skinner and figure everything is going to be OK scoring wise. They looked down on scoring contributions of several of their players just last season and figured somehow the newcomers would be getting more.

Hey, we're back!

Thank god for Drai, because he's the only one skating hard at the moment.
That's my big concern: they're still going at 75%, and the few times they do kick it up they often end up with nothing to show for it. They desperately need Frederic and Ekholm in the lineup ASAP, as they have almost zilch in the way of functional size.

I thought the 4th line looked good, Janmark and Kapanen worked well as puck hounds, and gave Skinner the support and speed he needed around him.

Podz has been fairly elite without the puck, he is a great defensive forward and adds size/speed for one million.

It's not his fault he's being put into an offensive role and given more minutes than he should.
Of course its not his fault. Its the orgs fault. Here we are over a decade into the McDrai era and we have less capable forwards to be playing topsix on a contender than we had even as far back as Chiarelli.

Podz isn't a great defensive forward either. He's physical, finishes checks and some of his passes work. Playing with Drai or the offensive D on this club some of those passes are going to work.

Its the teams fault they don't have somebody better on the line to play a puck grabbing role and score some. Frederic is probably that correction.

Bottomsix has never worked out for Podkolzin either. In Vancouver the attempt to make him a role player failed. Its why he was a labeled bust and still is. A fire hydrant would have as many goals playing all season with Draisaitl.

Leon is only 2 points back of mackinnon? Mackinnon didn't get any points today. So....I'm gonna put the art ross in Leon's favor. The rocket. The selke and mvp and the Lindsey are all very much his. This could be the most trophy's ever won by 1 player in the NHL.

Only two guys that can carry this team right now

Leon

And myself if given the opportunity

Let's hope we win Sunday. Rangers are so streaky. Then again so are we.

Well Rangers games are usually exciting so we will see. Rangers will be on a b2b so hopefully we take advantage but they will also be playing desperate.

Don’t forget Adam Henrique who had a lot of votes of confidence going into the season. Yours as well. He’s been utter dogshit, can’t score to save his life and on most nights he plays every bit as badly as Connor Brown. Except worse because he makes more than three times what Brown makes and for an additional year to boot. What a joke of a signing.

I'll be be happy to take mcdavid off your hands if hes not a part of the oilers.
Sure pick 5 pieces you wouldn't want to trade, add some more, and we can talk.

I think he's being miscast tbh. Idk why they still haven't tried moving him to the wing in the top 6 and moving Nuge back to centre. Knoblauch just ramming a square peg into a round hole over and over again. I will say I like what he did with some of the defensive schemes last year, but he is a terrible coach when it comes to micromanaging and having a pulse on his lineup and line combinations.

How about making a freaking change on the PP at some point too Knobby? Can this dude even make any offensive adjustments?

Put Skinner on the PP, take RNH off. Take Bouchard off at times and let Walman play in his spot.

We need a shake up there.

Pretty sure Henrique-McDavid-Hyman was the top 6 line to start the game today.

You have your opinion but one can easily argue that Knobloch has been the best coache in the entire league the past 100 or so games. Firing yet another coach would just be stupid.

Another five or more guys tonight that didn’t move the needle at all. Scratching a bottom 6 guy doesn’t seem to motivate anyone, so if Knob had balls he might get their attention by scratching Nuge. Was awful again tonight, and not sure what else they can do to motivate him. Needs a shocker of a wake up call.
