Fun game to be at. Oil are undefeated in the Krak Haus games I've attended. This is a fun building and a great sports town. Picture perfect road game first period. This was a dominating game made close by Oil mistakes.

Draisaitl was a machine again tonight. This stretch is as good as any he's put together. His line 2 running mates were also excellent with smart, heavy play. Loved Nurse's game tonight and Kulak as well. J. Skinner was very good with a goal. Maybe more impressive was a mid-range rocket wrist shot that clanged a post. Hasn't pouted with his minutes or deployment. Good effort tonight. McDavid never got it going. Looked sluggish and just not sharp. Right from warm-up didn't see him really fly into it like normal.

I like how the Kraken package game summaries for their fans: Postgame Instant Analysis: Seattle vs Edmonton | Seattle Kraken

Weird schedule to play a home road back-to-back with the team in Pacific Time Zone for 24 hours then fired off to Eastern Time Zone for a grinding road trip.

Solid W.
From the sounds on TV.

It seems like a pretty dumb hockey audience.

Cheering for random plays.

I get the practical reasons for why the team is committed to Skinner as the starter, but surely they can at least add a backup they can trust to start a game against a team that isn't bottom 5 in the league?

Game on the ice might have been the most one sided Edmonton has played this year.
Skinner isn't any better then Pickard and vice versa

Goaltending is are biggest need AINEC. Half the posters know this the other half continue to deflect and blame the D. Yet statistically are defense area among the top half of the league stat wise so go figure.....

IMO one of the biggest problems is starting on time. When was the last time we decisively won the first period? This team has enough talent to force their will on the opposition . This was the team I want to watch

Bingo.

How many times of us, over the course of our lifetimes, have watched teams steal single games, entire series and even an entire cup runs because they rode a hot goalie. It happens. Oilers aren’t winning with a below average goaltender.

Skinner has never shown the consistency to be the guy to do that over 4 series, or even the majority of a 16 win stretch (no playoff experience to compare, but regular season durations demonstrate such). Anyone who thinks we can win with him is eating mushrooms. Pickard is just a back up, full stop.

Except we did get to game 7 of the finals with Skinner.

I’d like to see if we can upgrade Pickard into Talbot.

I'd also say that they are roughly equal in terms of ability.

My question is why do so many teams go out and snag these very capable European goaltenders in the later rounds while the Oilers do not?

Maybe Vinni will be the answer. We'll know in 3 or 4 years.

Teams are increasingly using two goalies in the playoffs. The days of playing one guy for the required 25-30 games is becoming more and more rare.

Florida started the 2023 playoffs with Lyon. Golden Knights started Broissoit over Hill.

Only 5-8 teams in the NHL have an everyday starter everyone else including the Oilers should be using a platoon system.

Teams have won Stanley Cups with average goaltending. Blackhawks with Niemi comes to mind.

Posters expecting Skinner to be the next Hellebuyck or the Oilers trading Skinner away for some random name expecting it will solve our problems are the ones eating mushrooms.

The question is, where does Skinner play in the top 6. The 2nd line has obvious chemistry and Podz is now putting up a few goals here and there, can't see them taking Nuge out of the top 6 especially with his scoring coming around now so does Skinner play on McDavid's RW?
I don't know, not really seeing an opening currently but he is playing well the last few so maybe he should get a look as a reward.
Brown is the obvious spot. Either play Skinner there or play arvidsson there and play Skinner with Podkolzin and Draisaitl. It's just a chance to give him a better look and more ice time, it doesn't have to be permanent

I wouldn't say dumb. Lots of new people being introduced to the game. Young couple beside us were given tickets from her boss and a loud group of young guys behind us similar. It was a bit funny that the cheers would start to build up and roar on nothing Kraken rushes and a real loud guy was Gruuuuuubauring every shot stopped. But this is a fun building with good energy and enthusiasm. Seattle's a great sports town and growing a fanbase.

Sloppy game that we dominated, should have blown them out, but just couldn't finish, and Picks was not very good. But good enough to be sheltered and pick up the win, so that's good.

I knew it was going to be tense when it was 3-0 and Jack said his usual dumb shit like we're running them out of the building, and jinxed us. Right after that Kapanen gave up the breakaway.

To be fair, Jack has stated numerous times that he doesn't believe in jinxes. He also likes to troll Oilers fans who are superstitious by making his bold statements about streaks and trends (e.g., Oilers PK is running above 90%, 3 opponents haven't scored in 70+ games, etc...).

Yeah, because jinxes aren't a thing that exist haha.

Always find it funny when people get genuinely mad at someone for "jinxing" something.

Actually, if Jack truly possessed powers like that, would he use them for good or for evil? He's obviously a good guy but Jack could fall for the temptation.
