GDT: Draft Thread Part Two

Some names that are worth mentioning....

Jesse Lees
Roberts Lipsbergs
Jan Stencel
Luka Gracnar
Ebbe Sionas
Lukas Wallmark
Connor Rankin
Alex Forsberg
Connor Honey
Spencer Jensen
Kayle Doetzel
Hunter Garlent
Colby Cave
Charlie Graham
J.S Dea
Kurt Etchegary
Tyler Hill
Brendan Harms
Peter Trainor
Viktor Arvidssen
Dominik Kahun
Franky Palazzese

Also I should mention Sergei Tolchinsky, but right after the draft NYR will have him at the development camp with maybe a few late adds as well.

The only truly surprising player on that list is Hill.

I'm a fan of Palazzese, but overage goalies do not alawys get drafted.

I would have been surrpised by Forsberg if you told me last year he wouldn't be drafted. This year? If you have actually watched him play you'd quickly realize why he wasn't drafted. Dude was BRUTAL. Not just with a capital B, but with capital RUTAL as well.

I really appreciates Clarke reevaluating his stance to get kids over to NA/into HFD ASAP.

I was quite critical of that before. It's one of those situations where it de facto is impossible to prove something, becaus you never know how a kid would have developed had he played somewhere else.

But I've followed more or less all "prospects" in the SEL for almost twenty years now, and my impression is that it is significantly better to stay atleast two years. To not change a scenery that is working. And I am sure it's the same thing with college.

Thought he still would've been a good pick for the 7th round, same with Palazzese.

Surprising no draft. RT @OHLHoundPower: Sergey TOLCHINSKY to attend New York Rangers Training Camp beginning tomorrow morning.

Can anybody post the Rangers Training Camp list? Maybe somebody should start a Rangers Training Camp thread and sticky it.

Victor Arvidsson is really good. He is 20 y/o and was a star in the WJC'S and in the Swedish POs.

He is a small righty who skates like a nut on the ice and literary no matter what level he plays in, he will catch Ds off-guard. Much more nifty than Hagelin and his skating isn't far behind.

At 5'9, and being more of a 1-way player, and without much playmaking ability nor great smarts really, he is far from a lock to make it in the NHL one day.

But he is a great fun young kid, who definitely likes one thing more than anything else in the world, and that is to just charge against a defensively collected team without any fear in the world. You could put Chara at the first post with a war axe and Vik Arvidsson wouldn't hesitate one second at trying to break in infront of the net.

How do you guys get an opportunity to watch so many of these guys play? I am thoroughly impressed by the amount of knowledge most of you have when it comes to draft. After round 1 im pretty useless.

Same here lol. I read a lot of scouting reports around Rangers picks and watch maybe a few CHL games that get broadcasted. I'm impressed by the work done on this website for all the scouting reports.

Division of labor. ODC knows Russia, Ola knows Sweden. I cover the ECAC and try to see every non-Atlantic NCAA team at least twice a year. And we have a big group of guys who know the Canadian Juniors.

Same. Looked up what I could on the Rangers picks but as we got to rounds 5-7 there were still guys saying I want this guy he brings this or that, etc. I was amazed lol

Keep it up guys. A lot of good insight during the draft. Much appreciated.
