Speculation: Draft Thread 2018-19: Part XI (No Kakko/Hughes Talk) - Post Your Mock Draft

Knowing what we value in a prospect, I HIGHLY doubt we are in love with Kaliyev.

It's just a long interview with him. I watch this podcast (The High Button) from time to time, and they don't show video clips. It's just like a conversion between 2-3 people just shooting the breeze and talking about the subject's career.

The Blue Jackets, JD's former club, still sitting on only two 2019 draft picks, their #3 and Calgary's #7.

Dallas has to trade down with their first. No 2nd or 3rd rounder, plus no 1st/2nd next year depending on what Zucc does.

Not saying it will happen, but the Devs could take all US-18 teammates with their picks round 1 thru 4. Hughes, Vlasic, Warren, Caulfield, Lindmark, Rowe, Fensore.

I feel like I'm totally alone on this, but I think expectations have gotten out of hand for what Kreider is going to get us. If Trouba only got the 20th pick and Skinner didn't even get a first, I have a hard time seeing Kreider getting a lottery pick.

Kastelic is a kid I've watched for a few years in the WHL. Hard worker who gets his points within two feet of the goal line and it at his best when he plays a simple. He's got a nice, long stride when he has open ice.

Not sure how the offense would translate as a pro, because I don't think he's going to bull his way to the front and park there, and the simple stuff is harder to get results with against better competition.

Yantsis I have a passing familiarity with. Aside from that he was one of the more unlikely 50 goal scorers you'd ever see, I think he needs to figure out what kind if player he is. He has the size and ability to be a disruptive force out there, but it's not always there. The skating isn't great, so that will be a factor at the next level.

So who is your favorite prospect in this draft?

Not necessarily who you think is the best, or most talented. Who is a guy (or two) you just really like as a prospect.

Byram and Zegras for me.

Byram (best dman in draft and could be Makar level but not Heiskanen level in my opinion) and for latter part of first round Tomasino. Seider is a favorite on here but soured on him since it was obvious we had no shot at him lol
