Draft steals from the limited sample sizes so far for 2024 picks in first round and post-first round?

Yeah I remember Robertson had the same issue and did improve his skating. I don't have any idea how easy that is but if improving your skating is doable, then sure. But I don't really see where we disagree. I said that if he doesn't improve his skating, then he won't be an NHL player. I never said he can't improve his skating and I have no idea what the Capitals did with his brother.
True, I read too fast. yes if his skating doesn't improve he will have a hard time staying at nhl level.

I like the tools that he have thought. Great third round pick by the caps

any of these guys looking like steals? were my picks in my dynasty league. I only have a 1x 5th and rest were 6th or 7ths. I havent kept up with how any of them have been. I understand a few have been drafted in previous years.

Ivan Yunin
Andrei Krutov
Emmitt Finnie
Sutter Muzzatti
Patrick Thomas
Makar Khanin
Owen Protz
Dalyn Wakely

I like the Emmith Finnie pick, could be a riser for a 7 round pick.

I like Protz aswell but he's not a steal. Physical D with a 3rd pair potential

this was the first year all my picks got atleast drafted lol. few of my picks were guys that went undrafted in our league. lol

Ive literally traded everything of value of my roster and left with only late picks so always hoping for a steal given those rounds atleast lol

Great early returns on the three third rounders, and I have to add the Ducks 6th rounder (182 ovr) Austin Burnevik. 7 goals and 12 points in thirteen games to start his freshman season, putting the 6'4 winger in great company among the top u20 scorers in the NCAA.

Drafted in his second year of eligibility after 40 goals in 61 USHL games last year, the kid clearly has a scoring knack.
Burnevik I’m going to disagree with. Maybe proving he should’ve went his first time around and even higher than the sixth round, but is he a future NHL’er? I’m skeptical.

Some of these players who play at the NTDP and aren’t amongst the best players are underexposed and then benefit when they leave. Burnevik looked like he wasn’t an NHL talent. He might end up a capable pro hockey player, but I don’t think the NHL traits are there. And while he’s having a good season in the NCAA as a freshmen, he’s a year older than when the typical good prospect would come into the league. Adjusting his performance for age and he’s doing decently, but plays for an old NCAA team that doesn’t bring in many highly regarded prospects but is good because they are typically old for the NCAA and they’re giving him a prime time slot for to that he’s one of their bigger recruits they get. I’m usually skeptical of players that produce for programs like this.

Tarin Smith I like a lot more from the Ducks 2024 picks. That’s a guy who looks like he’ll play in the NHL and I thought he was underrated the whole way all of last season.

I do not agree with your statement. His skating is below average that's for sure, like @Dump N Chase said, skating is the easiest attribute to improved. A lot of nhl player have skating below average but their hockey IQ is great (Robertson is a great exemple). I think it's the case with Protas. In a redraft, he's going at the end of the 1st round or second round at best.
I think you are underrating how bad his skating is. He’s a terrible skater. Not to say he won’t be able to make it work, but he’s not just a below average skater. That’s underselling it.

I think you're pretty hard on him. I'm sure nobody think that he will be the player that will bring the puck into the zone but he have the hands, the protecting skills and the shot to do damage at a higher level. I woulb be surprise if he touch a top 6 role but I can see him in a middle 6 role.

He make me think of Joel Armia, he's not fast but can protect and maintain the puck in the offensive zone.

I just gotta push back on Protas. He's huge and is scoring but he looks incredibly awkward on his skates. Unless he improves his skating, I don't see him as an NHL player.
They said the same about his brother.
