NHL Draft lottery race II - Bruins locked into 5th before ping pong balls.

Whenever I have questions about a player's skating, I send video to a pro and ask her to break it down. As long as the player has proper technique and strength, things like speed, agility and edgework can always be improved. O'Brien has what it takes.

As for tournaments, I never put too much emphasis on a tournament. You know who only scored 3 goals in 14 games over three WJC-U20? David Pastrnak.
If the win the lottery are you taking best player available, even if it a defenseman?

I would be a little surprised if Martone was left at #5, and Hagens and Frondell were both taken before them. Desnoyers goes after them no matter what imo. O’Brien in the rankings fold now makes things more convoluted, but I don’t think the Bruins take him unless they get bounced to #7 and he’s still there, but the other names are already gone.

I hope you are right, but I am skeptical that they are going to make the right choice

Plus, the player we get now will more than likely not be playing next season or anytime soon

I think people are getting their hopes up too much with this draft and are going to be disappointed

I felt much better when they had that 4th spot
I’m confident but if draft was tonight and they don’t grab one of my 7 targets I’ll be all over them

I wonder what Dom thinks of his skating. That seems to be one of the biggest knocks on him, and it has gotten better, but still leaves room to improve.

The other real know I heard mentioned on him is he didn't have a good U17 in 23, not did he have a good Hlinka tournament in 24. In those 2 tourneys combined he was 0 goals 1 assist in 12 combined games
He is young - yes interested In Dom take.

17% is not really “nearly impossible” though - those odds include other teams. The odds are 17% objectively.
I agree.

One in less than six.

If I’m standing with six of you, and we are drawing straws for $1M? I’m excited. Not thinking I’m gonna win necessarily but I most definitely have a chance.

Beats the shit out of any recent chance we’ve had.

I feel the same. BPA regardless of position. They need help across the board and it would be nice to have someone to run an PP.
IMO, the top two in this class are Schaefer and Misa and I don't blink. I look at the pair to be in a similar situation as the 2009 draft between John Tavares and Viktor Hedman.

Plenty of people back then believed Hedman to be the better prospect, but he was going to need much more time than Tavares to reach his ceiling. And those people, including team staff became enamored with Tavares because he was the first player ever granted exceptional status in the CHL. Who goes first in a redraft? I bet it's hands down Hedman.

Now, the same is being thought of about Misa, because he earned exceptional status. And I know a lot of people believe tier one is Schaefer/Misa and then the next tier. I believe it's Schaefer by himself and then the next tier.

That's not a knock on Misa or anyone else. I am just higher on Schaefer. The fact that he is only eligible for this draft by 10 days and he is the consensus number one pick can't be overlooked.

Live this year alone:

Misa 19 times
Martone 17 times
O'Brien 12 times
Martin 9 times
Schaefer 14 times.
Aitcheson 7 times
Spence 11 times.

I have seen all of their games on video. Along with Frondell, Hagens, McQueen.

BTW that's the wrong blog to follow my OHL content
So you’re saying you don’t have a feel for any of these guys, given you’ve not really seen them.

Yikes…..

Please tell me you eat better than Fenway with all those nights at the rink. (Sorry @Fenway)

Some of the food spreads in OHL rinks are unbelievably great. I can honestly say that I eat better at some of those than I do at home lol.

Can confirm Dean Malkoc is in Baie-Comeau to have eyes on Desnoyers tonight. That makes Sweeney and his two head scouts Nadeau and Malkoc who have gone to see him. .

Malkoc is scheduled to be in Brantford tomorrow.

Change of plans for me tomorrow. I am now going to Brantford.
How long does it take you to get to the games on average?

Dom, I know Windsor is beyond your 2 hour circumference - but if the Spitfires continue to move along and you head to Windsor in your travels - let me know and I would love to buy you a beer (even if after the game). I’ve been to a couple of Windsor games and live about 35 minutes from the arena.

Appreciate your input and tune into your podcasts fairly regularly.

So the 7 spot is less likely then 6 or 5. Eventhough, I am fine with 7 it's nice to know that we have better then 2/3 odds to pick 5 or 6 and higher odds to pick top 2 then to pick 7th.

I think we are good. The tank was a great success, and eventhough Philadelphia almost made it better, I think we can take solace in those points coming from games, where Lysell and Minten were contributors while Pasta continued to show incredible growth in a wretched environment. I am ready for the ping pong balls and all that follows. I don't think we have a a 5 year rebuild on our hands.
You're stupid that ostensibly we get the five pick but we might fall to seven. Good old nhl.
