I'm leaning towards Frondell so far if Misa/Schafer/Hagens doesn't work out. But I'm preparing for something weird to happen because it's just been that kind of season.
Yea it's been a weird season is right .I have no idea what Bruins will do ,heck not sure till early May when they pick:dunno: but I just hope whoever they pick plays great here:crossfing

It's too bad we don't see aggressive moves in the NHL from like #5 up to #2, or whatever. Funny how little it happens.

If Frondell falls to us that would be huge

Hagens will probably not escape the top 3, he could have gone first overall

I think id be upset if the bruins got the 5th pick still and both Frondell and Obrien were available and they picked Obrien.

I like Obrien, but I think this team needs another guy that can really rip the puck and take over games. Obrien would be a great complimentary piece if we already had that. But we need more game breakers, not guys that slow the game down and to this point have earned a lot of their points on the powerplay and playing with other top guys.

If Philly takes Desnoyers over Frondell I’ll jump through my roof and expect the Bruins to take Frondell. I like Desnoyers too and would be happy with him if we fell to 6, but wouldn’t take him at 4

there are a few draft experts who think jake o'brien will end up in the top 5.
i believe @DominicT is a big fan. as more of a stat watcher than viewer of
his game, my only question was his EV production (had a ton of PP points).

NHLCSB has him at 6'1.5" and plenty of room/time to fill out the frame.
Yes ~ someone who knows this very well told me same. Bruins blueprint center

Looking forward to reading all the reports on him in June

Hey this could be the case & I hope the kid does cook. That said though ,at this very moment no experts have him in top 5.All I am saying is if Bruins go outside these experts picks it best be a homerun.Maybe if 2015 never happened I would look at it a bit different, but it did happen.Again I hope nothing but the best at draft for Sweeney and Bruins and if they do pick O Brien I will pray it works out .I am not hoping for bad to prove myself right
What experts besides NHLCS have completed their final rankings?

I don’t understand why everyone is looking at “the big picture”. The big picture means nothing the moment our final position came down to one meaningless game and we still played our best player. And he figured into two goals. That’s dumb. There’s zero argument otherwise. That’s f***ing dumb.

On top of that, the team's most pressing free agent concern (Geekie) just finished his contract season with a 6-game goal streak. The team gets a lower pick and Geekie's agent gets that much more leverage in negotiations.

Still, it's hard to be too disappointed in the overall results since the TDL. That was a successful tank, all in all... the main factor in the general disappointment is JUST HOW CLOSE they were to executing the *perfect* tank.

Even with the mistakes, they were less than one millimeter away from seeing Philly force OT last night -- maximizing their draft outlook relative to where they were at the TDL.

I've seen all his playoff games so far, seen him casually do that blind behind the back pass right on the tape a few times already. It's like he plays in 3rd person, he knows where everyone is all the time and where they're going.
Going by his highlights he knows where people are ~ if this is him I can imagine what he could do on a powerplay with Pastrnak

From Athletic

Jay McKee, the Bulldogs’ head coach, told The Athletic that O’Brien has been “incredible” in his two years in the OHL. He talks about an “elite, elite hockey IQ,” about how games just “flow and slow down for him,” and about how he “sees plays developing before they happen.” He talks about his passing ability, his deceptiveness, his unpredictability, how coachable he is, a shot that has improved and his leadership.

But most of all, he talks about his love for the game.

Jay McKee was a good tough smart defenseman - glad to see he is bringing O’Brien along

Hilarious

O’Brien grew up in Brooklin, Ont., a suburb northeast of Toronto, and they billeted former NHLer Christian Thomas after he got traded from the London Knights to the Oshawa Generals and Dan reached out to Thomas’ dad, former NHLer Steve (a childhood friend of his), offering to have him at their place.

The videos of Jake and Christian’s mini sticks games live on.

We need to draft him

We should be grateful to Monty. Had he been competent and not scratched Geekie multiple times but developed him properly he could have got 40 + goals and looking for 8 M

Silver lining

That's a good point. It's definitely not a bad "problem" to have, but to the extent it is (or more specifically---has the potential to be) it really could have been that much worse.

In direct contradiction to the spirit of what I just wrote, both in my prior comment and in the paragraph above, I do think Sacco deserves some credit for experimenting with #39 on the top line with #88 in the first place, and then sticking with it once he stumbled upon this new revelation.

At the time he first made a point of trying it, it seemed pretty far outside the box... given how far below par Geekie's performance had been until that point. The experiment worked out well beyond what anyone could have imagined!

Sweeney will get it done. I have no doubt about this.

I wonder what Dom thinks of his skating. That seems to be one of the biggest knocks on him, and it has gotten better, but still leaves room to improve.

The other real know I heard mentioned on him is he didn't have a good U17 in 23, not did he have a good Hlinka tournament in 24. In those 2 tourneys combined he was 0 goals 1 assist in 12 combined games

F’d up was winning in overtime
They are in a very good spot
17% chance for Any forward
14 % chance likely O’Brien
58% chance one of Hagens, Frondell, Martone, or Desnoyers

In February they were 16th

Spectacular tank - 33 days

I can still see them ending up 1 or 2 and two months of Misa worry

Picking 6 we just get the left over of Frondell, Martone, or Desnoyers (I’m up with that)

The Paul Pierce approach - falls in your lap
I hope you are right, but I am skeptical that they are going to make the right choice

Plus, the player we get now will more than likely not be playing next season or anytime soon

I think people are getting their hopes up too much with this draft and are going to be disappointed

I felt much better when they had that 4th spot

Watching Philly or the 4th spot will interesting where it ends the first week of May as well

As of today my guesstimate
Sharks - Schneider
Chicago - Misa
Nashville - Hagens
Philadelphia- Desnoyers
Boston - Frondell
Kraken - Martone
Would be extremely happy with this....you?

Whenever I have questions about a player's skating, I send video to a pro and ask her to break it down. As long as the player has proper technique and strength, things like speed, agility and edgework can always be improved. O'Brien has what it takes.

As for tournaments, I never put too much emphasis on a tournament. You know who only scored 3 goals in 14 games over three WJC-U20? David Pastrnak.
