Imagine what the extra 11.5million could do for this team if you moved Zacha and Mitts this summer? You could probably do Marner (13x7), Tavares (6.7x2), AND Pionk (6.9x5) with Geekie (5.15). Tavares and Marner on the second line, Pionk as 2RD
Marner I am interested in. Tavares is short-term change. He won't be here in 2 or 3 years. He's 34. I would not do that, but that's me.

I am ignorant of this Plonk fellow.

I had it on in the kitchen and depending when I came in they were trashing the Red Sox, the NFL Draft, and the Bruins
So you missed the fine Golf talk from the fella in Taunton. That's when I shut it off and watched "Bruins Rinkside on YouTube with Connor Ryan. It was honestly, IMO exceptional.

I’m having trouble with this draft

1A Schaefer
1B Misa
3 Hagens
4 Martone
5 Frondell

I hope that their approach to this draft is different than in the past. Go for the highest ceiling, you never regret it
I think highest ceiling might be mcqueen from what ive read.

Id take them in that exact order you just listed. I might completely take schaefer out of the top 5 though for boston. I dont care that he might be good, i just dont think he helps as much as a forward would for the bruins

So, I'm getting ready to go out and turned on the geniuses at 98.5 with Muck & Myer.
Their cliches talking hockey is just so trivial and topical.
Sometimes they'll make a comment that I'll think to myself
"okay, that's a good take" but 99.9% of the time
it's simply noise.
I do appreciate that they think they're talking hockey but
then I realize that they think that sports in general is
one size fits all, and if you know Baseball (Mazz) and Basketball (Felger) you can get away with dumb hyperbole takes regarding hockey.
Now saying that I also realize that 99,999% of their audience
are drunk, or a shut-in, and only have them on due to habit.
Sorry if this insults anyone.
The thing that bugs me the most about those two is that when something happens or something breaks, they go so off the rails with all of these grand assumptions that they make about the situation. These assumptions turn into bizarre conclusions most times.

Then for weeks they state these weird conclusions they drew from the situation as fact. That’s really dangerous to do for a radio station that’s as far reaching as they are… in prime time..

I’m probably biased as well because I just don’t like them. Podcasts are the future

Haggens would be a sweet pick and a excellent fall back would be frondell. Hoping for the best this pick will make it or break it for us. Too important.
I'm torn. Each of the top guys have +'s and -'s.
I haven't seen any of them, not even on TV but
from the sounds of it, the Bruins won't be getting either
top 2 picks. Common sense IMO says 4-6th pick.
I was listening to Dom on with Chris Nosek IIRC
a few weeks ago and Dom (correct me Dom if I'm wrong)
that he really likes Desnoyer's (if we don't get the #1 and Misa)
followed by Frondell?
I knew nothing about Martone (and actually next to nothing about any of them) but he intrigues me big time.
The Bruins need a bunch of role-model niche players and
besides the #1 Center they need a sniper of a wing and toughness never hurts. I'm wondering if Martone is that winger?
Now I know they're not in any position to not pick a #1 Center and the only thing that will stop them is if Shafer falls to them but...
I wish we have 2 picks kind of like how Brian Burke nabbed the Sedin twins. Hitting on 2 of the top several picks would be the fastest retool in Bruins history IMO.

Passing on the best player in the draft because of the position he plays is a silly way to rebuild.

6 million for 2 years yes. Anything else no.
For Tavares? No thanks I would pass.
He's never won a Cup and I'd be concerned that
he'd look at it as a soft landing to retirement.
If you're going shopping for someone in free agency
IMO you want a different type. Someone with a background
of winning and with more attitude.
Of course, Tavares is a Center and that's what we need but
again, not at the risk of him becoming another Elias Lindholm.

Misa > Frondell > Hagens > Desnoyers> McQueen. That’s the order. Any of those names should make fans happy now and in the future. May 6th/7th can’t come soon enough.

Really focused on our 2nd round picks now too. Hoping we can move up a few spots for some select names in the 30s-40s slots.

The thing with where their picks are in the second round is that the lists stop mattering at that point because of the drop off points in this particular draft. Be prepared for “but he was ranked X and the Bruins took him 20 spots early!” takes, when really it’s just a biiiig group that is all about the same. I’m not even bothering, but interested in what you come back with!

I’d still probably swap Hagens and Frondell, but I get it.

You have to go for the best player available

No matter what forward they pick he’s in best case scenario 2-3 years away from being a legit top line player

If you go for the best available player he’ll always carry more value in a trade, if let’s say a trade opportunity becomes available, or picking up a franchise prospect/player allows you to trade other assets to land those other players. & lastly you ofcourse want to surround your team with the best players possible

We all know the example from 10 years ago far too well, Kotkaniemi example has also been brought up here as well, what can happen when you reach for a need

Which player is more valuable, Kotkaniemi or Tkachuk, which player holds more trade value?

You don’t draft for need, you draft the player you think will be the best

Just been informed Don Sweeney is in Moncton to see Desnoyers as they open up their 2nd round series tonight and tomorrow.

McQuaid was there last week.
I know this is not going to be received well (by some) , but I will be very happy If Desnoyers is the player the Bruins draft. I expect they will end up drafting 5 to 7

If it’s a clear cut no brainer kind of thing sure. But if you’re at 1 and Misa is rated pretty close it’s not crazy.

Picture taking the D and then whatever center you can acquire. Versus picking the C and whatever D you can acquire.
