Why is it a big deal Hagens goes to BC? He’s a big time prospect. How do you pass that up? Especially when he solves your biggest need; young stud center.
I could care less where he goes. I prefer CHL players to college players but it's style of play and potential that I am looking for. Hagens has continued to drop and did not produce as he was projected to do this year. Yes I know he is a point a game player but more development seems to have been expected from most of the scouting services.

The question for me is simple how will Haggens game translate to the NHL ???. This is the question with all prospects

Yeah those 5 goals in 9 points in 7 games was so disappointing.

I don’t get this narrative about Hagens at all.

Would anyone here offer sheet Knies from Toronto with the compensation being 1st, 2nd, and 3rd knowing we might suck next year and lose out on decent 1st, 2nd and 3rd round prospect? I'd consider it but it's a dangerous move to make given our circumstances. Edited to add: do we need to get our own second rnd draft pick back from Washington if we were to do this? We own two 2nds in 2026, neither of them ours

I probably wouldn’t. He is really good though. He has to be worth at least 7 mil. Might be looking at more if someone puts in an offer sheet. What if someone offers him 9.5? Can the leafs even match that?

A middling team with potential could though. Like the wild.

I wouldn’t, both because of the comp and because Toronto would match anyway and I don’t want to start all that with them.

No question, especially having the Leafs first next year and just to put a little pressure on them with Marner and Taveras hitting free agency as well

What if next years first is really high again?

Lol
That would suck !

It’s a tough call no doubt, but yea you’re right it’s a fine line. Number one Id love to sign Marner, but highly unlikely. Fingers crossed.

With the Bruins having their first next year It would be nice to see the Leafs lose two of Taverss Marner and knies,, or just losing one and severely overpaying for the other two.

The part that’s cut off at the end is “goalie-friendly NCAA”. Which is absolutely true.

They need their second back but I would offer sheet Knies in a heartbeat. Potential 30 goal scorer who hits and is fast, just the type of winger they need

The Greek wrote that like it's google translated.

The primary assists aren't really a surprise. All you have do is have watch a single game of his and the ridiculous passes are quite evident. So is the unmentioned penchant for takeaways. The dude looks like an absolute nightmare to play against - just isn't bighuge, though, so he sucks for those who read bios and don't watch games.

heard the other day that knies' camp is asking for over $8M a year right now, FWIW

Have you heard that he’s 5’11 though?

Surprised by the negativity on Hagens. He has high-end skill. Sure not the biggest guy but would anyone complain if he turned into a poor man's Pasta, Patrick Kane, Point or possibly even an equivalent? We can't score. We need a serious injection of talent at forward.

I'll take Hagens on the Bruins, though I wonder if he's big enough in his role to make Cam happy.
I wonder if he's big enough period. In this NHL he can develop and thrive but he might have some of the issues we've seen with Poitras and then you see Hughes getting hurt and that's likely why he drops in some lists.
I really don't know where the Bruins desires sit right now. It was get bigger and try to handle Florida and yes, Cam has that bias and he might see a guy like Martone as the closest top pick he can find to himself but Sweeney has favored speed and skill before in some drafts (and done a poor job evaluating it) and they seem to have gone in that direction at the deadline with Jokiharju and Mittelstadt etc. so I really don't know what direction they are heading now. They generally seem to evaluate defensemen better in terms of draft picks and have some success there but not as good on forwards to say the least.

His size won't be an issue. Some negatives I see is that he sometimes lacks the drive to get back on defense which could be a cardio problem, disinterest in playing outside the offensive zone, etc., but overall is a coachable fix. As a pass-first player, he sometimes forces passes instead of trying to extend the play. From the group I think should be the top 5 in the draft, I think he is the weakest goal-scorer. He sometimes has trouble getting shots on net.

With that said, he's a quick skater, a very good passer, is able to open passing lanes, and is great on the transition. I don't think he falls past #5.
