Remember I said Giminez would be batting under .200? Now hitting .203

thank god this team can pitch or they would be the worst team in baseball.

When looking at the bats, how many guys are overperforming? Springer and that's it. I didn't count Straw because he is not a regular.

Other players are underperforming or where they should be.

The bats should improve, but at some point, they will need to add a bat after Santander.

George is hitting so well. He is hitting the ball hard. I hope it can last.

Jays are 19th in runs scored and five runs away from being 15th. They have the 7th highest batting average. Power is a concern, but they are hitting okay.

At the same time, eventually all the other AL East teams will have to find a way to prevent runs.
It's frustrating as you watch the Jays.

The O first of Gurriel, Teoscar and Vladdy were bash first. D later.

Now the pitching and D are all world but they can't generate any O.

It's like watching a hybrid of 2016 and 2021 over and over.

It’s encouraging for sure.
I thought OMart would be that bat in short order. But not right now - struggling more than he ever has. Really has me wondering what’s up.

Letting Romano go and signing Hoffman was Shatkins best move in the off season. I’m sure it was a tough one with him being a beloved Canadian but it’s nice having stability so far
Yimi, too. It's only been a handful of innings each, but considering how many high leverage spots they've been in, I have to imagine they would have a couple more losses if they picked Romano over either of them.

Personally I’m not too worried about the bats, as long as this pitching continues we should be fine. Outside of the Mets series I don’t think this season could’ve gotten off to a better start. 12-8 after the first 20 games, thats a 96 win pace and probably wins the division. I expect Atkins to make a big splash for a bat at the deadline if we’re still in contention. Wouldn’t mind another lefty out of the bullpen.

Crazy stat right now.

Our pitchers have 2.1fWAR and Bassitt, Hoffman and Garcia have 2 (the other pitchers add to 0, so the difference is rounding).

Romano was money before his injuries.

That said, Hoffman can pitch multiple innings, which is something Romano always struggled with.

That scenario doesn’t happen very often but it’s probably worth 4-5 wins a year and even more in the playoffs where it happens more often.
Romano was never money.

Romano was also completely useless outside of save situations (not a rarity for a closer, but still) whereas Hoffman, at least so far is not.

I found Romano inconsistent. At times he threw too many balls . Hoffman seems to be around the plate much more and consistently. Small sample size though. Hoffman seems to throw harder as well.

Peak Romano (2021-22) was consistently in the zone and regularly hit triple digits with his fastball. He took a step back in 2023 and then fell apart in 2024, and I think that sometimes colours how we remember him. He was one of the most dominant relievers in baseball for 2+ years.

He also threw too many pitches per inning which was why he could only pitch 1 inning.

He was the 3rd best reliever in baseball over that period if memory serves correct (behind Clase and Diaz, not counting King due to him shifting back and forth).

Do they plan to have a game on TV again before 2026? It's the long weekend and i got Sportsnet, RDS, TSN and there's jackshit on TV.

Is it a stupid apple tv game again? I mean Sportsnet is showing misplay of the f***ing month and some stupid guys who know nothing about hockey making stupid prediction that will 100% be wrong up until 6PM. Baseball game will be over by then why not program this instead?

Problem now is if he hits a guy by accident he’ll be tossed. Learn to steal signs in little league. No point getting upset about it.
