NHL Draft lottery race - Bruins currently have 5th Pick

I’d just soon see philly come away with 2 pts. I just don’t see Nashville getting enough points the rest of the way to pass the Bruins even with them getting 2 against the flyers.
I get that, but the way the Bruins are playing right now I wouldn't write off 3rd OA quite yet

Doesn’t matter if the lottery screws things.
If we get to 4th worst record I think we are insulated by the talent. At 5 or 6 it’s not as safe if the ping pong balls don’t go our way.

Misa
Schaeffer
Frondell
Hagens
Desnoyers
Martone

Eklund - high end talent but small. I still feel pretty good about this pick

Mrtka - I like these two but they seem a notch below the others. O’Brien has the upside but is furthest away of the guys listed so far.
OBrien

I would have loved either of these guys if not for the potentially career altering injuries.
McQueen - Back injuries
Bear - Lacerated Achilles.

Anyone of us from this era remember Ken Coleman on this as the Sox were climbing up the standings with a ten game win streak "Look at 'em go, ten in a row, and now our boys are second". B's are doing it now only in reverse. "Eight losses in a row, Eight more to go, to make it a Sweet Sixteen". The Impossible Meme

Hopefully the Caps take the Bruins seriously tomorrow night, understandable if they don't.
One good thing With Ovechkin chasing the record, I can’t see them taking their foot off the gas, add to that with Leonard having the possibility of being a Cap by then, and if he plays , I’m sure he’ll bring more than enough energy to get then going.

I get the sense there is a major drop off after the top 6 or 7. It’s looking good but we still seem to be firmly in the fringe area of an otherwise weak draft.
Not really at all
Tier 1 usually has
Schaefer
Misa
Martone
Hagens

Right behind but probably what we want
Frondell
Desnoyers

7 for me as of now
Eklund a winger but highly skilled
Would be a heck of a pick

8 is probably Roger McQueen
Without back problems probably top 5
He’s a huge center lot of people like

9 is probably OBrien likely a great Bruins pick ~ no complaints

10 could go a bunch of ways depending on playoffs ~ Carter Bear is a winger who has a great name for us but is a good player

I’d rather be in top 8 but Hagens, Frondell, and Desnoyers should all be there at 4

Played it a zillion times - still have it
My first year following Red Sox
What a time to be alive

A not so smart person said the same thing. Almost word for word.
Well I think it would take unbelievable good fortune to win lottery and if they did I would be happy as anyone just getting either player.( rather centre).I was just pointing out to another poster post that it's not in stone they would have to pick 1st based off need .More assets the better was my thinking.

Agree

We need 1 though because can’t rely on Misa being bypassed

#ManifestforMisa

I’ll be happy 4-6 on draft day

If they can slide down into a top 4 maybe 5 spot I would watch draft with a big you never know feeling.Sit out around 7th though and I would be expecting them to pick around there.A 4-6 spot can get them a really solid longterm piece yip.

Got to be realistic. That's pretty unlikely.
The odds are significantly against any single team in the top 6 getting the #1 pick.
SJ and Chicago combined have a less than 50% chance of winning. Boston has a legit chance at finishing with the #4 pick. If so they are getting one of Misa, Frondell or Desnoyers. I am not a fan of Hagens in the top 5.

So we generally agree with order, but disagree with value. Like you I would take Eklund at 7 but even that feels like a major dropoff. SO once again I stated with the 4th worst record we are safe. At 5 we are on the fringe, you and I like Eklund, many do. But he is a step below the top 6 almost everywhere and he is an undersized player.

But if we are in 6th place, and get pushed down two slots, I have O'Brien and Mrtka who I would take but not love. I like O'Brien alot, but if we are talking 4 years away, I thought we could do better with such a high pick. I would take it, but I wouldn't be thrilled given the immediate needs after such an abysmal season. And Mrtka, is a big strong d playing tons of minutes, but I don't get the sense he is a future No. 1 d. Maybe I am wrong there.

Given the season we have had, I would not be happy with McQueen at all. I hope we are not the team taking that risk. Same goes for Carter Bear.
