NHL Draft lottery race - Bruins currently have 5th Pick

You can’t take Desnoyers over James Hagens. That’s a fireable offense.
The only question with Hagens is if he'll be murdered by NHL competition and be identical to Jack Hughes in IR stints along with everything else.

Comparing Hagens with Desnoyers, I really like Desnoyers in-tight skating, but I'm not entirely sold on his top end speed (this is due to a lack of exposure on my part, not any observed weakness). I'm also not sure five Desnoyerses would have the hands of one Hagens.

But yeah, one can absolutely make a case for Hagens over Misa. The opposite is true as well. Anyone else in this draft though? Pffffft!

Dang, I’m really enjoying what I’m seeing in the Martone highlights the most. Clearly has a gamer attitude and drive, while the other two seem more silky but slow (I realize Frondell is on a larger sheet). Too bad Martone isn’t a center! That’s a guy with that intangible “ready to get after it” vibe we all know and want back in the Garden.

Desnoyers made me a wee bored not gonna lie, but hey, happy to have any of them….he looks like he’d be ready to pass to Pasta in October after a camp and some protein shakes honestly.

A decent amount of experts have concerns about effort and “want to” take over games. When he does he’s on, apparently he can disappear for stretches.

Personally I think he’s kind of a tool with insane tools. I’ll probably catch flack for this but even those cellys in those highlights annoy me. Skates by so many teammates to throw his arms at someone in the crowd. What are we doing here? lol

Bruins will be lucky to get a prospect like him but I much rather one of the centers for obvious reasons.

Kraken may not get points tonight but they’re playing this Dallas team hard. Hoping for a bounce to go the Bruins way ;)
Looking at their schedule they might lose most of the remaining games. San Jose, Utah and Vancouver are in there but LA twice and Vegas along with St Louis. Mostly losses unless the standings are set and teams start resting players last few games.

Right now I think 5th is as high as we get even if we lose the rest of them.

How high are you on Hagens ?

I don’t see him as good as Cooley or Keller at same point but probably close

He’s also about 5’10

I will love the pick if it’s him but I’ve seen him a half dozen times live and am starting to knit pick him

The other two - Frondell & Desnoyers are perfect for Bruins in my imagination lol

Interesting posts here.

I am seeing/reading alot of poster wishing the Bruins to lose ALL their game this season for the lottery chances but were insatisfied with the bruins being President Cup season Champs, Cup contenders BECAUSE they were by definition winners I.E only Stanley cup win counted.

Things changes!!!

They do and did.

This is an excellent read on Hagens .The good & the flaws.
I know I’m going to get roasted for this, but whenever the primary asset of a player is “speed”, I cringe. No doubt that’s the name of the game today, and guys like McDavid and MacKinnon…yada yada…I get it. On the other hand, Senyshyn & Beecher were also lauded for their speed, but I don’t recall reading anything about their stone hands that came with it.

There are a lot of guys that fly up and down the ice in the NHL, and otherwise do nothing. People inevitably make the argument that their speed allows them to “gain the zone”, back check, forecheck….meh. Useless if you aren’t winning puck battles and getting offensive to the net. Just don’t want another soccer player that’s out there running around without the puck.

Never watched Hagens; maybe he has the speed and all the tools. Like I said, gushing over speed has lost its luster for me.

I had Shane Malloy from Hockey Prospect Radio on my podcast today and he says that Caleb Desnoyers is a slam dunk for what the Bs need, and he fits the mold with the club stylistically.

Episode drops tomorrow.

All platforms available there. Spotify, Apple Podcasts

It was a great chat.

Yea, he would be the one player I would pick if I had my choice. The OHL plays a 68 game schedule too with some good road trips, so he is battle tested far as the extra stuff goes. This is definitely the type player the Bruins need
Any of the top 6 is going to be a good player. Martone reminds me of Mathews, the way he shoots the puck.

Being fast is great, but can you play and think with speed. there are tons of 4th liners who are lightning fast and amazing skaters but they cant do everything else at that speed like say, connor mcdavid who can literally do everything at 100mph.

It’s too bad they don’t think this draft is special.

I read a scout said Desnoyers isn’t likely to become a top line centre. More of a middle 6 centre.

if the bruins don’t end up with misa or hagens I like to see them select Frondell. I think the bruins are likely scouting him and have him circled on their list.

I personally like Frondell better than Hagens. I like his size. if the bruins end up with Frondell, Hagens or Misa we should be fired up.

I bet all three players are nhl ready or pretty damn close.
