NHL Draft lottery race - Bruins currently have 4th Pick

Don't need a 200-foot 2nd line center. Have too many middle 6 centers on this team.

Needs are, in order, IMO: a high-point producing #1 center, a couple of top 6 wingers, and a high-end dman. We need to get one of these in this draft. We can get one of the wingers in the free-agent market.
yep, 1/2 C a must for me first

In true Bruins fashion they were also on video saying “we want the Swede” right before Washington picked him.
IIRC, it was the Caps' GM who said it, after Boston came over to talk to him about trading up one. He said to his scouts, "They want the Swede." Of course, the Caps wanted the Swede as well to be Ovie's center, and it worked out great for them.

Looking at centers drafted since 2010 between 5 and 7 to set my expectations.

Ryan Strome
Mika Zibanejad
Mark Scheifele
Elias Lindholm
Sean Monahan
Pavel Zacha
Elias Pettersson
Barrett Hayton
Alex Turcotte
Dylan Cozens
Kent Johnson

Seems like the average is another Zacha or Lindholm.
Drafting another Zacha or Lindholm level center would be a very good outcome.

I watched the 2024 U 18 Finals between US - Canada. Hagens centered Eiserman on US top line, while Desnoyers was centering McKenna\Martone. Desnoyers played well and showed a 200 foot game with some physicality while Hagens showed good speed and puck handling ability but zero physicalty which I don't like.

Sure but archetype wise (not saying he’s as good or will ever be as good) Hagens is Jack Hughes. Everyone doesn’t have to be physical, especially if they are super elite skaters and playmakers. Nick Backstrom was never physical. This team is bereft of high end skill and speed. It would do the Bruins well to focus on that type of player.

You can only hope he has learned from his “smartest guy in the room” tendencies in the past and just goes with slam dunk consensus this time. Though if he does go off board again, it will be fun to see the frequent posters here defend the pick to the death and say we don’t know what we are talking about until it becomes clear a few years later it was a mistake and then they quietly stop defending the pick.
Like who ?
