NHL Draft lottery race - Bruins currently have 4th Pick

quiet night for the tank, but a big night for the kraken in vancouver.
with a seattle win tonight, the bruins will move into the 4th spot.
I think Seattle can win. That Canucks team is waiting to die. Traded the wrong guy and now they could be stuck in the murky middle.. The worst place to be in this league.

Seattle actually has more wins in regulation than the Bruins, so even OT would move the Bruins to 4. Just hope for a win though.

OK but that's not what he was saying or talking about. Of course fans have been calling for Sweeney's head for a decade so it all blends together. And there are a handful of more rational fans who see that one year like this isn't a trend, despite the best efforts of many on here for years to paint it differently.

The absolute worst thing would have been not to sell and to hang around - hell with how all these teams are playing we may have even gotten in. But Sweeney bombed the room, we're having an aberrational year and getting a great draft pick for it, plus adding more future picks and some very good future talent. Not the year anyone really wanted, but at the same time, given the circumstances, they're doing a great job taking advantage right now.
It's not irrational to expect better postseason results from a GM who inherited a core of several Hall of Fame players. You might think the team’s regular season success during Sweeney’s tenure outweighs the fact that they’ve won multiple playoff rounds just once. However, not every fan ascribes to that philosophy, nor does it make them any less of a fan for feeling that way.

I don’t like sticking up for Sweeney but he didn’t blow it in ‘19, Covid year, and 23. He went for it on the latter and this is what you have. I’m sure you were one of the fans that agreed with that powerhouse. I won’t argue about different GM.

Again that’s not what the discussion was about though. And yeah I do separate the work of the GM from the coach and especially the players. For some reason around here the players get the least of the blame for not doing better in the postseason.

Who put the players together? He's run through players and he's run through coaches. When does the buck stop at him? His team beat the 6,7, and 8 seed on the cup run then couldn't seal the deal. The GM's in Tampa and Florida have crushed him when it came to making the right trades and right signings. I appreciate all he's done, he was good to very good at it, just time to move on. he should not be in charge of this rebuild.

You said the team is being let off the hook Lonnie. I don't see anything remotely like that here or anywhere else. Now you're just saying you want Sweeney fired. Which, again, 80% of this board has wanted that for years and years. Two different things.

I had a nightmare last night. I was watching the draft and the Sweenius was at the podium 'With the third overall pick, the Boston Bruins are proud to select Zachary Hamill-Senyshyn Jr.' I woke up screaming.

Yeah its from stat watching, but for me that's Frondell in this draft. Failing to dominate the Swedish Jr league is a red flag

Responding to your "why do the players get the least amount of blame"

As far as wanting Sweeney fired, what grounds does he have to stand on to keep his job? They were actually supposed to be a contender this year and are currently last in the entire conference. Can the next GM not get them one series win in the past four seasons? I mean looking at the current state of the team, it's a long shot I guess.

You're kind of preaching to the choir here, my man..

Sweeney has certainly had a longer leash than what you usually see in the league. Not many GMs get to make 3 coaching hires without having a Cup in their trophy case

Anybody here like me and checking this site daily:

Some interesting bits related to the Bruins:
- Bruins have a chance to finish fourth worst, but have the weakest schedule for all teams contending for 4th worst, so that isn’t good.

- For teams finishing 2nd to 6th worst, highest probability outcome is they move back one pick. So if the Bruins stay at 5th worst, most likely outcome is they pick 6th.

- Odds of moving up to 1st overall from the lottery only improve from 8.5% to 9.5% if finishing 4th worst vs 5th worst

- Clicking the “sim lottery” button is fun

Desnoyers is one player I would pass on if we are picking in the top 5 or 7.
I`m fine with a comment like this but I`d appreciate more context, why, how often have you seen him play, what about his game has you leaning to the side of not choosing him?

Not disagreeing with you as I can`t, never seen him play, I just wish some posters would go into greater detail about why they would or would not like player A, B or C

if they end up 4 you almost have to do everything you can to trade up for misa
The nice thing is there's actually two lottery's one for the first pick and one for the second pick, then all other teams fall accordingly. So they'll have a couple of chances to move into the top two.

SanJose I can see taking Schaefer, but not so sure about Chicago. Misa and Bedard for the next 15 years would be a tough one to pass on.

So maybe if you throw enough at the hawks, but boy Id be shocked if they'd deal just because I'm thinking Misa is quite a cut above the rest. So hoping for some luck on lottery day and the Bruins jump up to 1 or 2

Of course this could all be null and void depending on who wins the lotterys.lol

He is pretty damn dominant against men in Allvenskan. I think he is one of the highest scoring players of his age in league history. Keep in mind, Frondell was rated as high as 2nd overall coming into the year. He was injured for most of the first half of the year and played poorly to average in junior competition and tournaments. A lot of scouting podcasts and writers watched these games and seem to have cast him in an overly negative light. Since January, Frondell has been on fire.

If he is there at 5 and the Bruins pass on him, shame on them. He is a legitimate top-line scoring center prospect in a similar vein to Matthews - but with a more physical profile.

If NHL GM's put the whole picture together, I could see Frondell going top 3, which means one of Hagens or Martone could be there at 5 for BOS.

Either way, he is the player to watch. If BOS gets him, it's a huge win. If he goes ahead of others and Hagens/Martone drop...still a huge win for BOS.

Will be a very exciting draft.

Check out his FEB/MARCH.
